This poem by Guo Moruo was written during the May 4th New Culture Movement, and was first published in February 192 1 Day, Current Affairs News, Light of Learning. In the poet's mind, the sun is a symbol of light, truth and even future China. The poet later said: "The October Revolution had an impact on me-although I didn't see the sun, I already felt the heat and fire of the sun." (Literature Knowledge No.5 1959: Comrade Guo Moruo answers the question of youth).
Therefore, the poet also longs for the early arrival of "Beautiful China". Therefore, the poet expressed his social ideal with his pen, through the goddess and through this poem "Praise the Sun".
"When I take my eyes off you, everything is dark" means that when the author takes his eyes off the ideal "new China", he still sees the old China with "darkness all around".
