Chrysanthemum is a short-day plant, which usually blooms in mid-October, that is, around the Double Ninth Festival of the Lunar New Year. At the beginning of this poem, it is pointed out that the time when chrysanthemums bloom is "half a month after the Double Ninth Festival". Then, the prospect of chrysanthemum unfolds before our eyes. The white chrysanthemum has become a "thousand spots", which is in harmony with the cold haze in the air and has a hazy and elegant charm. These two sentences focus on the big picture and write the blooming of chrysanthemums.
The second couplet takes ink from the details and describes the fragrance and shape of flowers. "Floating gold" originally refers to the sunlight or moonlight reflected by the water surface, followed by "taste", which turns this meaning into a beautiful smile.
