Yan Yu's "Cang Hua" on poetry is aimed at the abuses of the Song Dynasty. The performance of Song poetry can be divided into three stages: following the Tang people in the early stage, Su Shi and Huang Tingjian transforming tang style, and turning to late Tang studies after the mid-Southern Song Dynasty.
He disapproved of the change from Song Dynasty to Tang Dynasty, especially opposed the style of Jiangxi Poetry School, represented by Huang Tingjian, which took words as poetry, learning as poetry and discussion as poetry. He thought that it was against the poetic tradition not to understand the characteristics of poetry. Yan Yu tried to restore the lyrical essence of poetry.
Appreciation of works:
Cang Shi Lang Hua is a theoretical and aesthetic work of ancient China poetry written by Yan Yu in the period of Li Zong in the Southern Song Dynasty. Systematic and theoretical, it is the most famous poetic talk in the Song Dynasty and has the greatest influence on later generations.
Yan Yu used the concept of "Wu Miao" of Buddhism and Zen for reference, took "Wu Miao" as the epistemology and methodology, "interest" as the trait theory, and "meteorology" as the realm theory, and constructed a strict poetic system.
Yan Yu's "unique talent" and "unique interest" have their specific connotations. "Biequ", also called "interest" in Shi Hua, is a literary criticism term originally created by Yan Yu. This is different from being interested in things in everyday language. The so-called "interest" or "other interest" refers to the poet's aesthetic characteristics with profound meaning and rich aftertaste, which is the first condition for Yan Yu to identify a good poem.
