On poetry, Yuan Haowen's works, including comments on poets Xie Lingyun and Chen Shidao. The first two sentences praise Xie Lingyun's poetic style. Xie Lingyun was a famous poet in Jin and Song Dynasties. The essence of this poem is to explain the era of literary creation, not to belittle the outstanding achievements of Du Li's poetry. Only innovation can lead the fashion of the times. A large number of his landscape poems broke the rules of metaphysical poetry since the Eastern Jin Dynasty and described the natural scenery in the south of the Yangtze River.
On the first part of poetry:
Spring grass in the pond Xie Jiachun,
Five words are new to all ages.
Behind closed doors, Chen Zhengzi gave a message.
Pity is useless!
"Spring grass grows in the pond and willows turn into songbirds in the garden" is a famous sentence in his "Pond Upstairs". The poet looked upstairs and saw a piece of green spring grass growing in the pond. The wicker in the garden was green, and even the songs of birds became more beautiful. The poet writes the colors and sounds of spring fresh and lovely. The poet vividly reproduces the realm of Xie Shi with the word "spring grass in the pool"
From the perspective of the development of literary history, it is pointed out that the realm created by Xie Lingyun is the poet's spring, and his five-character poems will last forever. "Newness" means freshness, which is also a criterion for Yuan Haowen to comment on poetry. The last two sentences are sharp criticisms of Chen Shidao's writing methods. They don't describe reality, but only look for sentences behind closed doors.
Borrowing poems from Huang Tingjian and Wang Anshi, the poet said in a very humorous tone, "Go and tell Chen Zhengzi not to moan behind closed doors. He is too poor to make up for the lack of poetry and waste energy. " Zong Tingfu said that Chen Shidao's poems "won purely by simplicity". How natural it is to have spring grass in the pond. "It can be seen that the first two sentences praising Xie Lingyun's poems are natural and fresh, in order to contrast Chen Shidao's poems.
