It combines Xie Fangde's Redefining Thousand Poems in Song Dynasty and Wang Xiang's Five-character Poems in Qing Dynasty. This is an enlightening anthology of China's ancient poems.

Because most of the poems it selected are famous works in the Tang and Song Dynasties, they are easy to learn and understand, and the themes are diverse. Pastoral scenery, farewell to friends, homesickness, mourning for the old and hurting the present, chanting objects and paintings, and banquets must be done. At the same time, it has the advantages of being concise, neat in form, interesting and easy to remember, which reflects the social reality of the Tang and Song Dynasties more widely, so it is widely spread among the people and has far-reaching influence.

In the 45th year of Kangxi, Twelve Kinds of Neem Pavilions published by Cao Yin included Selected Poems of Tang and Song Dynasties compiled by Mr. Houcun. "Mr. Houcun" was Liu Kezhuang in the Southern Song Dynasty, whose real name was Qianfu, and he claimed to be a householder in Houcun.

However, some people think that poetry collections are written for the purpose of choosing pen names among the people. After that, there appeared two kinds of thousands of poems, namely, Xie Fangde in Song Dynasty, A Thousand Poems in Reorder in Qing Dynasty by Wang Xiang, and A Thousand Poems in Five Words by Wang Xiang. Later, the bookstore published the two together, that is, the popular version of Poems of a Thousand Families.

Although it claims to be a thousand poems, there are actually only 122 poems in a thousand poems. According to dynasties: 65 in Tang Dynasty, 52 in Song Dynasty, 5 Dynasties 1 book, 2 in Ming Dynasty, with unknown authors and ages. Among them, Du Fu has 25 songs, followed by Li Bai, with 8 songs. The poetess only chose two sonnets written by Zhu in Song Dynasty.
