This is the poem on Wang Zhaojun's tombstone. It tells that Wang Zhaojun married far away in the desert and made peace for several generations. In terms of merit, she can be compared to Wei Qing and Huo Qubing.
Zhaojun’s departure from the fortress is a story in Chinese history. Wang Zhaojun, named Qiang (pronounced qiáng) and courtesy name Zhaojun, was originally a palace maid of the Han Dynasty.
In 54 BC, Huhanxie Chanyu of the Xiongnu was defeated by his brother Zhizhi Chanyu. He moved south to the Guanglu Fortress outside the Great Wall and formed a good relationship with the Western Han Dynasty. He entered Chang'an three times to enter the imperial court. And asked Emperor Han Yuan for a marriage. After Wang Zhaojun heard about it, he asked to go out and get married.
After she arrived at the Xiongnu, she was named "Ning Hu's family" (阏's name, pronounced Yanzhi, meaning queen), symbolizing that she would bring peace, tranquility and prosperity to the Xiongnu. Later, Hu Hanxie Chanyu controlled the entire Xiongnu territory with the support of the Western Han Dynasty, thus making peace between the Xiongnu and the Han Dynasty lasted for half a century. Later, there were also poetry, pipa music, drama, TV series and other artistic works based on this story.
"Hanshu·Yuan Emperor Ji" and "Hanshu·Xiongnu Biography" do not record that Zhaojun invited him to leave the fortress. They only record that Emperor Han Yuan "gifted" Zhaojun to Huhanxie Chanyu.
"Hanshu·Yuan Emperor Ji" records: "In the first month of the spring of the first year of Jingning, the Xiongnu and Han Xie Chanyu came to the court. The edict said: "The Xiongnu Zhizhi Chanyu betrayed etiquette and justice, and since he betrayed him, Han Xie Shanyu never forgets his kindness, admires etiquette and righteousness in his hometown, restores the gift of greetings, and hopes to protect the fortress and spread it endlessly, and there will be no military revolution in the future. He changed the Yuan Dynasty to Jingning, and gave Shanyu Wang Qiang, the king of Yeting, the title of Yan family. "
"The Book of Han·Biography of the Xiongnu" records: "The Chanyu said that his son-in-law, the Han family, would be his own. After Emperor Yuan, Wang Qiang, the son of the Liang family in the palace, was given the title Zhaojun. Shanyu was overjoyed and wrote a letter wishing to protect Shanggu and even Dunhuang. He spread the word endlessly and asked to stop the border guards and soldiers to give peace to the emperor and the people. "?
The subsequent "Book of the Later Han·Biography of the Southern Xiongnu" records a huge discrepancy: "In the beginning, the Shanyu's younger brother Youguli King Yi Tu Zhiqiang was regarded as the Zuoxian King. King Zuo Xian was Shan Yu's vice-president. Chanyu wanted to pass it on to his son, so he killed Zhiya Master. The person who knows the dental master is also the son of Wang Zhaojun. Zhaojun's courtesy name is Qiang, and he is from Nanjun. At the beginning, during the reign of Emperor Yuan, a son of a good family was selected to join Yeting.
At that time, Hu Hanxie came to the court, and the emperor gave him five maids. Zhaojun had been in the palace for several years, but he could not see the emperor. He was filled with sorrow and resentment, so he asked Ye Ting to order him to do it. Hu Hanxie was about to bid farewell to the assembly, and the emperor summoned five daughters to show him. Zhaojun is rich and beautiful, and the Han Palace is bright. When Gu Jingpei returns, he moves around. The emperor was shocked and wanted to keep him, but it was difficult to break his promise, so he broke up with the Xiongnu. Give birth to two sons. When Hu Hanxie died, the former Yan family had a son who wanted to marry him. Zhaojun wrote a letter asking for his return. Emperor Cheng ordered him to follow Hu Su, so he was reinstated as the Hou Chan Yu Yan family. "?
The story of Zhaojun's voluntary request for marriage as recorded in the "Book of the Later Han·Biography of the Southern Xiongnu" may have been written by Fan Ye, the author of the book, based on folklore, and its credibility is naturally not as good as that of the "Book of Han" ”, but since the "Book of the Later Han Dynasty", Zhaojun's request to leave the country has gradually become a so-called "historical fact" due to people's subjective thoughts. This is very absurd.
The description of Wang Zhaojun in history books. There are not many records, only less than 150 words. Wang Zhaojun, named Qiang, was born in Zigui (now part of Hubei) in the Western Han Dynasty. In the Jin Dynasty, she was renamed "Mingjun" or "Mingfei" to avoid the taboo of Sima Zhao. She was the daughter of King Xiang of Qi. , because he was born as a commoner, his life experience has not been verified. When he was 17 years old, he was elected to the palace to wait for the imperial edict.
During the reign of Emperor Yuan of the Han Dynasty, Emperor Yuan agreed to Hu Hanxie's request for marriage and decided to choose one from the palace. A palace maid with both talent and beauty, as a princess, married Huhanxie Shanyu. Wang Zhaojun understood the righteousness and took the initiative to "please go", realizing the Xiongnu people's desire for peace, and Huhanxie Shanyu named her "Ning". Hu Yan's family (Hu's family is a Xiongnu language, meaning queen)."
