The tents are heavy with yin and fragrant mist, and the beams are creamy. The name is selected from "Cold Night".

"Cold Night" is a collection of three seven-character poems with the same title written by Lu You, a patriotic poet of the Southern Song Dynasty. Two poems have seven verses and one has seven rhymes. Qian Zhongshu's "Selected Notes on Song Poems" only included "Cold Night, Heavy Yin Fragrance and Fragrance Mist". These three poems express the author's lamentation on the malaise of society at that time and his helplessness that his ideal of serving the country could not be realized.

Notes on the work

About the author

Lu You (1125-1210) was a poet and lyricist of the Southern Song Dynasty. Ziwuguan, nicknamed Fangweng, was from Shanyin, Yuezhou (now Shaoxing, Zhejiang). He always insisted on resisting the Jin Dynasty, and was constantly ostracized and attacked by the establishment in his official career. In his middle age, he entered Sichuan to fight against the Jin Dynasty. His military life enriched his literary content, and his works were full of brilliance.

The volume of lyrics is not as huge as that of poetry, but it also embodies the spirit of patriotism that devoured the remaining captives. In 1158 AD (the 28th year of Shaoxing), he entered Fujian and served as the chief registrar of Ningde County. He also served as the general magistrate of Longxing, Zhenjiang. In 1170 AD (the sixth year of Qiandao), he entered Shu and served as the general magistrate of Kuizhou. In the third year, he entered the Sichuan Xuanfu envoy Wang Yan's shogunate and devoted himself to military life. The post-official Zhi Baozhang Pavilion is waiting to be made. In his later years, he retired to his hometown, but his belief in regaining the Central Plains remained unswerving.

He wrote many poems in his life, and there are more than 9,000 poems in existence today, which are extremely rich in content. They express political ambitions and reflect the people's sufferings in a bold and bold style; they also express many fresh works about daily life. Yang Shen said that his poems are like Qin Guan in their delicacy and Su Shi's in their majesty. But some poems reveal negative emotions. He is the author of "Jiannan Poetry Manuscript", "Weinan Collected Works", "Southern Tang Book", "Laoxue'an Notes", etc.
