Poems to encourage learning

The verses of the poem to encourage learning are as follows:

1. "Encouraging Learning" (Yan Zhenqing of the Tang Dynasty)

It is the time for men to study when the lights are on at three o'clock and the chickens are on at five o'clock. . Black-haired people don't know how to study hard early, and white-haired people regret studying late.

This is written by Yan Zhenqing to encourage future generations. It is natural, smooth and rich in philosophy. Yan Zhenqing lost his father when he was three years old, and his family was in decline. His mother, Yin, had high hopes for him, implemented strict family education, and supervised the school personally. Yan Zhenqing was also extremely diligent and studious, studying hard every day, and later became a famous calligrapher.

2. "Occasionally" (Zhu Xi of the Southern Song Dynasty)

It is easy for a young man to learn from an old man, and it is difficult to learn from an old man. One inch of time should not be taken lightly. I haven't noticed the dream of spring grass in the pond, but the phoenix leaves in front of the steps have already sounded in autumn.

This poem, also known as "Poem to Encourage Learning", was written by Zhu Xi to persuade young people to cherish their time and study hard. It is used to persuade others and to warn themselves. It is very easy to pass away the days of youth, but it is difficult to achieve success in learning, so you must cherish every inch of time and not let it go easily.

3. "Scholar Bai's Thatched Cottage" (Du Fu, Tang Dynasty)

The scholar in Bishan burned the silver fish, but the white horse went to live in the deep rock. Ancient people have used it for three winters, and now they have opened more than ten thousand volumes when they were young. The clear clouds are all over the house, and the autumn water floats down the steps and breaks through the canal. Wealth must come from hard work, and a man must read five cars of books.

This poem was written in 767 AD, when Du Fu was fifty-six years old and living in Kuizhou (now Fengjie County, Chongqing). Academician Bai, whose identity is unknown, has always gained glory and wealth through hard work. A man of knowledge should read a lot of books like Academician Bai in order to gain fame.

4. "Winter Night Reading Shows Ziyu" (Lu You, Southern Song Dynasty)

The ancients spared no effort in learning, and it was only when they were young that they were able to achieve success. What I have learned on paper is ultimately shallow, and I know that I have to do it in detail.

Ziyu (pronounced yù) is Lu You's youngest son. This poem was written by Lu You on a cold winter night. He was intoxicated in his study and read poetry books endlessly. Outside the window, the north wind howled. In the silent night, he could not restrain the rushing emotions in his heart. He wrote this philosophical poem and gave it to his youngest son affectionately.

5. "Encouragement to Learning" (Mengjiao, Tang Dynasty)

When a stone is struck, there is fire; if it is not struck, there is no smoke. People only know when they learn, but it is unnatural if they do not learn. Everything must be done by its own destiny, and it is not me who is worthy of him. Youth must be born early, how can one grow into a young man?

This poem talks about the importance of reading and studying. The poet uses this to persuade people to study hard. Only through learning can people master knowledge; if they do not learn, knowledge will not fall from the sky.

You should work hard as early as possible during your youth. Can a person remain a "youngster" forever?
