Legend has it that Ma Yin Lake is named after Emperor Kangxi drinking horses here, so it is also called Kangxi Lake. According to historical records, in the thirty-sixth year of Kangxi (1697), Emperor Kangxi appeased galdan through Ningxia. At the beginning of May, Kangxi settled in Yaofubao (now Fuyao Town) on the west bank of Shaomayingmu River in Huinong District, passing through Pingluo Ancient City. According to folklore, Emperor Kangxi visited Ningxia incognito to inspect people's feelings. One day, Kangxi dressed up as a common people, wearing a melon seed hat, a blue cloth robe and black cloth shoes, rode a bordeaux horse out of Beijing, crossed the Yellow River with a back cover, and arrived in Pingluo City, north of Fucheng, Ningxia. It was getting late at this time, and Kangxi had already driven a day's journey. He was exhausted and wanted to go to the city to have a rest, so he knocked on the door. The gatekeeper asked, "Where are you from? If you don't know the rules, the court has ordered that the city gate should not be opened after dark. Come back tomorrow morning! " Kangxi wanted to test the tightness of the gate guards, so he made up a few words to scare the doorman and said, "I am an official sent by the imperial court to send urgent documents to the county government." If I miss my official duties, your life will be in danger. " The doorman replied sternly: "Don't say that the court is coming, even if Emperor Kangxi comes, I won't open the city gate. This is a rule set by the court, and no one can change it. You'd better find someone out of town. " Hearing this, Kangxi was very satisfied with the security of the city guard, so he took his horse to a private house in the southwest of the city. At a lake, Kangxi was drinking horses. An old man came forward and asked him, "This guest must have come a long way and missed the time to go to town." Kangxi nodded, and the old man immediately said, "Then come to my house for one night!" Kangxi followed the old man into the house. It turns out that this old man surnamed Zhang is a layman who eats fast and reads Buddha. He is knowledgeable and knowledgeable. Zhang Jushi greeted Kangxi after eating and drinking, sat on the kang and pulled up the mill. Kangxi told the story of knocking at the city gate. Zhang Jushi clapped his legs and smiled and said to him, "The guests don't know. Since the 20th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, after the defenders Xiao Ruxun and his wife led the army and the people to defeat the rebels, the people compiled a little song called "Tie Ping Luocheng", which was sung among the people. " Kangxi quickly said, "Would you please sing a song for me?" Zhang lay then sings:
Iron general, iron warrior,
Iron man, iron city.
The traitor banged against the wall,
Water can't be spilled, and needles can't get in.
Emperor Kangxi was very happy to hear this, exaggerating that the layman sang well. Later, Emperor Kangxi returned to the capital, summoned the Qing Wu, described in detail his unannounced visit to Pingluo City, and made a decree to reward the officers and men guarding Pingluo City. At the same time, he also sent someone to send a plaque to Zhang Jushi. Emperor Kangxi personally wrote four big characters: "Virtue is worthy of example". Zhang Jushi told the story of Emperor Kangxi's trip to Pinluo. From then on, the lake where Emperor Kangxi drank horses was called the Lake for Drinking Horses. To develop the county economy, the land use right of Ma Yin Lake belongs to undeveloped non-agricultural land, including 6,200 mu of lake area, 0/200 mu of reed in the lake and 3,600 mu of natural red willow forest around the lake. There are a large number of wild ducks, seagulls, swans and other national protected birds among the reeds. At the same time, all kinds of fish grow well.
