Mountains and water, walking towards the bank of Yuguan, Late at night, there are thousands of tent lights.
The wind is blowing, the snow is blowing, my hometown is shattered, my dreams are gone, and there is no such sound in my hometown.
Translation
After traveling through mountains and rivers one journey after another, the soldiers marched non-stop towards Shanhaiguan. The night was already deep, and thousands of tents were lit with lamps.
The wind kept blowing outside the tent, and the snowflakes could not stop. The noisy sound shattered the dream of homesickness, thinking that there was no such sound in my hometown thousands of miles away.
"Mountains are a journey, water is a journey", describing the difficulties and twists of the journey, the distance and the long distance. The poet climbed mountains and ridges, boarded boats and waded in rivers, one journey after another, getting further and further away from his hometown. These two sentences use repeated rhetorical methods and repeatedly use the word "a journey" to highlight the long journey. "Walking towards the bank of Yuguan" points out the direction of travel. The poet here emphasizes that the "body" is toward Yuguan, which also implies that the "heart" is toward the capital. It reminds us of the poet's nostalgia for his homeland, looking back frequently, and faltering. The word "Napan" has a rather distant emotional tone, which shows that the poet is helpless when he is ordered to travel to "Yuguan" this time.
"A Thousand Tents of Lights in the Dark" is not only the climax of the emotional brewing in the first film, but also a natural transition between the first and second films, serving as a link between the past and the future. After traveling long distances during the day, people are walking in the wilderness at night We set up the tent and prepared to go to bed; however, it was late at night, and the lights in the "Thousand Tents" were shining brightly.
The next film focuses on the wanderer's pain of homesickness, explaining the reason for staying awake late at night, and the wind becomes snowier. The first watch highlights the desolate and cold scene of the violent wind and snow outside the fortress. This is a sad scene, and the traveler's homesickness is even more intense when the wind and snow are on the way. The scene of the tent resting for a long time also describes from one side the state of being tossing and turning on a cold and freezing night. The broken hometown dream echoes the line of "Thousands of Tents of Lights in the Deep Night" in the previous film, directly answering the question of how sleepless it is in the middle of the night. The reason for sleeping is the word "whisper", which highlights the loudness of the wind and snow; it is also very anthropomorphic, as if the wind and snow also resonate with people's hearts, talking about the people in the hometown all night long, making people feel homesick. It uses an exaggerated technique to vividly express the melancholy state of mind after a long night in the hometown. There is no such sound in the hometown, explaining the reason why the dream cannot come true: there is no such continuous noise of wind and snow in the hometown. Of course, you can fall asleep soundly; but this bitter cold place on the frontier is no better than the beautiful Kyoto. Moreover, it is a camping night with a blizzard, and the heavy feeling of hometown makes it even more difficult to fall asleep. This sentence at the end directly expresses Zheng Ren. The poem conveys a deep attachment to one’s hometown.
