Vu Thang's poems highlight the characteristics of Vu Thang.

Let's tell the whole story in chronological order. 1989, Gao Chun's father passed Yibin by boat and met Anlu for the first time. At that time, Anlu was young and beautiful, and her face emerging from the river brought her father an unforgettable smile. He wrote her first poem, which was included in the collection of poems "The Yangtze River Map". From then on, my father sailed by the river for several years, writing poems at every station by the river, accompanied by Anlu.

Anlu reads poetry and expands the wall. After that, the two were emotionally entangled and it was difficult to get rid of them. Anlu entered the temple to practice; She is married, but still loves her father; Her affair led to her husband's suicide; She asked the temple about life, but she couldn't understand it.

Anlu has been loved by many people and loved many people all his life.

When she is old and wilted, she will go to Shanghai to see Gao Chun. At that time, her father had passed away, and it had been 20 years since they first met.

In 2009, Gao Chun's father died, and Gao Chun took over Guangde and sailed to Yibin to transport baiji.

On the way, he passed most of the stations where his father stopped and read the poems written by his father. He went through every stage of Anlu, from old to young. Finally, I went to Yibin, where Anlu first met his father. This is the starting point of my father's voyage. There are Yangtze River, boats, two docks and young women.

Gaochun dates back to the end of the Yangtze River, and there is an Lu's tombstone for his mother.

In the birthplace of the Yangtze River, women give birth to women, and rivers breed towns.

The origin of Buddha, a woman's life.

The English name of the movie is crosscurrent, which goes against the current.

This is a story about going back in time. Young people sailed the Yangtze River and witnessed their parents' stories.

The comment area mentioned that there are no two generations here, but it is also a very good perspective for middle-aged Gao Chun to go upstream and walk through every ferry he used to be with Anlu.

Off-topic:

There are two most touching scenes in the whole film: first, people stay in a closed space for a long time after crossing the Three Gorges Dam, and the morbid white fluorescent lamp slowly rises and is transported to the next valve. At this time, people have a sense of loss that is completely controlled by machinery. The dam is like an iron coffin. Finally, at the end of the day, the door opened and the sky was as calm as a river. As if relieved, the apes on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can't stop crying, and the canoe has passed Chung Shan Man. People still have to live in harmony with nature. Qin Hao's tears are a little too much, and the change of scenery alone is enough to shock people.

Second, Yibin, Gao Chun saw water after being stabbed. Anlu smiled. She opened her hands, and a white silk floated to the surface, with the sailing route painted on it. Somehow, I think of Wang Xiaobo's Green Hairy Monster. There is a girl waving to you in the water, and you can get rid of it when you walk beside her.

The Yangtze River in the Yangtze River Map has no rushing, no grandeur, only silence. It is endowed with a "sense of time" by the camera, which is mysterious, meaningful, silent and constantly passing. Just like when no one is looking, the Yangtze River shows its true colors. There are many rolling shots in the film, which slowly sweep the whole river. Sporadic ships seem to be motionless and have been walking, much like the eternal pull of people and time. Or patting the bow, like a rusty axe, splitting the river dully, so there are two sides and fireworks.

A Gao Chun: Where are you from?

The man on board is called Gao Chun. He was a middle-aged man in literature and art. After his father died, he became the captain of Guangde.

This ancient "Guangde" is a portrayal of contemporary China.

Father and uncle Xiang represent the older generation, either dead or no longer asking about the world and becoming a silent generation; Vu Thang, the boatman, represents young people. They are a generation with material support. They are busy talking about business and picking up girls all day and live a restless life. Gao Chun, on the other hand, represents middle-aged people, once proud and now lost. The impulse to write poetry has long been shattered by reality, but age has made them the backbone of society, struggling to support this dilapidated "Guangde".

This reminds me of a song by Zhou Yunpeng in "The Empty Cup": The children haven't come back from playing, and the old people haven't woken up from their sleep. Only middle-aged people sit in front of the door in a daze.

The middle-aged man in a daze is thinking, "How did we get here?"

Sail from Shanghai to Yibin in 32 days. This is a journey to find roots. During the voyage, Gao Chun constantly met a woman named "Anlu" at different docks. They talk, make love, look for, miss ... at first glance, you will feel very confused, and you have no idea what the relationship between these two people is and why they always meet. Director Yang Chao left many gaps in the plot, leaving only some subtle clues, which need to be carefully understood to discover the secrets. It turns out that "the time for Gao Chun to sail on the river" and "the time for Anlu to walk on the shore" are different. In fact, Gao Chun sailed against the current for 30 days and relived Anlu's life for more than 20 years in reverse order. They chased each other on two "different and diametrically opposed" timelines.

At the dock, Gao Chun looked for Anlu and approached the source of the Yangtze River step by step along his own life coordinates. Gradually, you will understand that this mysterious woman named An Lu has an inseparable relationship with the Yangtze River. Looking back on her life is like looking back on the bumpy course of the whole Chinese civilization. Thus, Gao Chun's long-cherished wish of seeking roots was abstractly realized in this woman.

Zhang Ailing once said: "The way to a woman's heart is through the vagina." There is a poster in the Yangtze River Map, which depicts a woman's body. In the picture, the Guangde is sailing from the woman's feet to her head. This metaphorical chain of "female-mother-Yangtze River-breeding civilization" is very obvious. However, this root-seeking road is doomed to be blocked. The breakpoint is the Three Gorges Dam. When spare no effort to "build" has become a "crack" on the road of civilization, that kind of lost excitement, wrapped in a great sense of absurdity, came face to face. We saw Guangde coming to the Three Gorges Dam under the blue night, which was the most shocking scene of the film.

I saw the towering door slowly open, like a mechanical behemoth opening its cold mouth. I even think that the camera has become docile in front of this behemoth. Under the gentle gaze of the camera, this "artifact" instantly has some natural attributes. Although it comes from ignorant people, it is more like a natural spirit, such as trees and mountains. This may be telling some historical inevitability, and it will certainly be created. Here, also happens to be the place where Anlu disappeared. Gaochun can't find her, which means that civilization is broken here.

And Guangde, a realistic ship, also ushered in a doomed ending. Uncle Xiang, inexplicably disappeared, will be silent forever; Vu Thang, who slipped and fell into the water, was hanged by the engine, symbolizing a young man strangled by the secular world. Gao Chun was killed by fishermen because he lost the goods he was responsible for transporting. The murderer asked him, "What do you mean by good responsibility?" This irresponsible middle-aged man, who is trapped by reality and can't find his roots, will eventually pay the price. At this time, he is still some way from the source of the Yangtze River. And this last section of the road, only let the "soul" go.

Er Anlu: Where to? The woman walking on the shore is called An Lu. Unlike Gao Chun, who cares about where he comes from, Anlu is more concerned about where he will go. As the word "Anlu" expresses, "Where is the way forward?" Yang Chao said: "Men write poems, and women live like poems." After her mother died, Anlu embarked on her own path of practice. She started from the Chumar River, the source of the Yangtze River, and went to Shanghai, the end of the Yangtze River. This walk is more than 20 years. It is not easy to sort out Anlu's path of practice.

Because the film was shot from Gao Chun's perspective, it means that Anlu's timeline is reversed in the order of watching movies. She seems to have experienced a reverse growth, getting younger and more confused.

So when watching this movie, the sense of dislocation of time and space is fascinating.

Seeing that reality and illusion are vaguely intertwined, it seems like a lifetime ago, and it takes 10,000 years at a glance.

Cities on both sides of the strait are treacherous, so I won't go ashore to join their lights. This is a poem written by An Lu after he decided to practice. This "treachery" shows her sincerity. If Gao Chun represents a generation that has been annihilated by reality, then Anlu represents an ideal that is still unwilling to compromise with reality. She refused to join the carnival of the last days and chose an independent life. She is the fire left over from civilization, waiting to rekindle the dirty world one day.

In this era of faith collapse, we need to rebuild new beliefs. This new belief is not fabricated out of thin air, it should come from the source of our own civilization. And Anlu is the embodiment of this belief. She is coming towards us step by step from the source of the Yangtze River. So, what is she? In the conversation with Gao Chun, we learned that Anlu's father is also a yogi. But in order to practice, he abandoned his wife and daughter and left alone. This puzzled Anlu: "Why should a man of practice and compassion give up love first?" She doesn't want to be a yogi like her father.

She went to the underground hills and came to the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda to argue with the monks in the pagoda. She asked, "What is sin?" She asked, "Can a guilty person have pure faith?" Monks can't handle it. At that moment, I seemed to understand Anlu's mind. "Sin" is a Christian concept, but she used it to inquire about Buddhism, leaving monks speechless. What is behind this is actually sending a message that it is impossible to talk between different religions. No matter which one you believe, it is only one-sided. This is Anlu's religious view. She believes in faith, but doubts the masses.

Therefore, she will not rely on any religion, but choose to practice a pure belief by walking on her own.

The so-called ultimate truth should be understood directly by individuals, bypassing religion.

In the process of practice, Anlu once lost himself. Secular love requires her to "love only one person"; The love of faith requires her to "love many people". She had sex with another man, and her husband found out that she committed suicide. Later, with the heart of atonement, Anlu became a body bodhisattva and measured others by herself. She is not a prostitute, she just wants to give the world equal love and justice. So she doesn't choose men, and she doesn't indulge. She practices her compassion with a joy that secular people can feel.

This is beyond Gao Chun's understanding. He loves this woman, and along the way, she has witnessed the suffering of Anlu in the past 20 years. So in Yibin, at the beginning of time, he said to Anlu when he was young, "You don't have to go through everything I have gone through." Later, he tore up the Yangtze River Map and the drawings that recorded Anlu's life trajectory. However, he forgot what Anlu said to him when he was in Jiangyin 20 years later. Gao Chun asked Anlu: "You are so beautiful, there must be many people who love you." And Anlu replied, "I love many people, too." After all, this man's love for Anlu and Anlu's love for men are no longer a kind of love. Therefore, when Gao Chun first saw Anlu at the Shanghai dock, we saw Anlu's eyes looking back, which was a clear look. There are no men, only sentient beings.

Ugly or weak or hypocritical.

No god is convincing.

So expect a woman.

Sanchangjiang: Who am I?

Finally, Gao Chun's soul came to the Chumar River, the source of the Yangtze River.

However, there is no river here and it has become a dry land.

Gao Chun met Anlu's father here. The man stood in front of his wife's grave, his face full of vicissitudes, looking into the distance.

I saw on the tombstone: "Tomb of An Mao".

There is also a small line next to it: "Anlu will always be by your side."

If the dead mother is the native Yangtze River; Then Anlu is the Yangtze River reborn from the devastated land. How to survive after the broken civilization is a problem that both An Lu and Gao Chun are thinking about. Although their directions are different, their destinations are the same. After his father died, Gao Chun continued on his way. After her mother died, Anlu also embarked on her own path. Finally, their souls met again at the source of the Yangtze River. This is the root of Chinese civilization. Although it's messy, it can't be easily discarded.

Buddhism has a concept called "cause and effect". It says that everything is the product of cause and effect. Every cause has a cause, and every cause has a result. From this perspective, the Yangtze River is like a causal chain that spans thousands of miles and thousands of years. Moreover, it is not completely linear. The excitement of the upstream will give birth to the splendid civilization of the downstream; The decline of the downstream may also lead to the decline of the upstream. This is the truth of civilization, and it is a kind of "self-destruction, self-glory and self-suffering". We are all in it, we are all shaping it day by day, and everyone is enjoying its good fruit and bearing its bad consequences.

There is also a concept in Buddhism called "I don't know cause and effect". Someone asked: "Can a Buddhist jump out of the cause and effect and get rid of the bondage of the law of cause and effect?" Answer: "Wrong, they still have to suffer what goes around comes around. The difference is that they are not ignorant of cause and effect." What is "ignorance of cause and effect" is to have "wisdom to understand cause and effect" and clearly know what kind of "fruit" the "cause" planted today will reap, so as not to make stupid mistakes again.

In the last scene of the film, Anlu stands among the buddhas and looks down on all beings. Before her eyes, it is the winding Yangtze River, and people are ups and downs in the fast-flowing river, which is endless and passed down from generation to generation. Struggling in the river is all "cause and effect". At this moment, Anlu, after a lifetime of practice and reincarnation, once again stood at the source of the Yangtze River. She finally understood that everything that had happened was inevitable; Everything that will happen is inevitable. The most important thing is: We must know who we are, we must be afraid of the choice at this moment, and we must be live high.

The story begins with a death, and Gao Chun's father died inexplicably.

But people die like lights, and when they die, they die.

The rest is about life.

The custom on the riverside is that the dutiful son must catch a snakehead in the river, which can be provided naturally, but not fed. When snakehead dies naturally, the soul of the deceased will rest in peace.

So the camera followed the tail of the snakehead in the incense burner. As soon as it flicked its tail, the picture overlapped from the small water surface to the vast Yangtze River surface.

The picture changes from small to large, and the time goes from back to front.

This is how the story begins.

1. Shanghai Wusongkou

Gao Chun has no writing inspiration.

White bored nai saw the distant ship shaking through the window. (Ship shock? )

Then I saw Anlu.

Ready to start looking for, was stopped by Vu Thang.

Young writers and artists are obsessed with a failed relationship.

Prepare to leave early the next morning.

Just overhauled, there's something wrong with the boat.

Gao Chun found a book of poems while repairing a ship.

2. Jiangyin Huangtian Port

Gao Chun met Anlu again.

They had sex in a collapsed house with discarded tires piled up at random.

He said: I have seen you in Shanghai.

She asked, what do I look like?

He replied that it was beautiful. There must be many people who love you.

An Lu inexplicably replied: I have loved many people, too.

An Lu's lines can be extended to another interpretation, but they are not necessarily prepared. I'll talk about this later. )

3. Nanjing Zhou Xiao

Anlu: Tell me what the future is like? So I don't have to go through it again.

In the evening, after taking a bath, Gao Chun leafed through poems and discovered the mystery of poems through place names.

4. Digang Wanshou Pagoda

Anlu argued with the master. Three questions.

A. What is a crime

Living is a sin.

To live is to compete with others for living space.

Buddha said that there is sand in Ganges River.

Space is infinite.

B.is it possible for a sinner to have noble beliefs?

Can you work miracles?

You made the tower snow.

I believe in Buddhism.

But miracles can't change cause and effect, nor can they change. ...

Sin is indifference.

Sin is having no faith.

5. Tongling and Yuezhou

Pay attention to one detail

Uncle Xiang muttered: Why did you stop in Tongling? ...

The original voyage did not intend to call at Tongling.

But because the name Tongling appeared in the poetry anthology, Gao Chun stopped the boat.

It is divided into three sections in Tongling.

The first paragraph and the third paragraph are in the same time and space.

The second paragraph is an independent time and space.

What stories did the first and third paragraphs tell?

It shows that Anlu's father abandoned Anlu's mother and son for practice.

After the sex, Anlu saw Gao Chun off by the river.

In the evening, Anlu's husband committed suicide because Anlu cheated.

The second paragraph tells the story of Gao Chun stopping his boat and returning to shore.

He didn't see Anlu this time.

Instead, he told a bizarre story.

In the early years of the Republic of China, Heyuezhou was prosperous in commerce and trade. There are many passenger ships, which are called little shanghai.

A Sichuan businessman spent the night here, in an attic in Toujie, with a local woman.

In the morning, the businessman found himself a woman.

And the woman has occupied his male body.

The woman left and went to Shanghai by merchant ship.

The businessman tried his best to stay, so he had to wait for the next customer in the attic.

6. Pengze Xiaogushan

Gao Chun, I give up practicing and wait for you.

You can't even see me.

You are worthless.

Let's go.

Where can you go?

This is my Yangtze River (ahhh)

7. There are many people praying for God by the river. Anlu stands on the idle boat, expecting and waiting for something.

8. An Lu is practicing.

Anlu knelt in front of the Buddha statue and concentrated on practicing.

The dead man named Red Guards appeared again.

She was kind-hearted and sent a winter coat to the teacher.

Perhaps it is the teacher's many things that bring two people who should not have crossed paths together.

9. Vu Thang and Gao Chun clashed.

Vu Thang was hanged by a machine that suddenly started.

Here is another detail of the magical text of this movie-the machine is personified. When repairing a ship in Jiangyin, Uncle Xiang called the machine Big Sister and Little Sister. Here, Gao Chun and Vu Thang clashed. Vu Thang fell into the water and didn't die, but he was hanged by a machine that suddenly started. Or more magically, Xiao Mei ate Vu Thang. This taste, suck it yourself. )

Uncle Xiang heard the cry of the baiji at night and found out what was smuggled.

10. Ezhou Goddess of Mercy Pavilion

Anlu Gaochun has no intersection.

1 1. Jingzhou.

In the film, Gao Chun gave a close-up of the poetry collection when he marked it. For example, Anlu was marked in Jingzhou, but at the story level, it did not appear in the film. The information given by the director is insufficient, and I attribute this part of the defect to the difficulty of shooting.

12. There are many docks behind the dam, and Gao Chun has never seen Anlu.

Zigui

Badong

Wushan.

Yunyang.

Uncle Xiang released the fish in Yunyang on the grounds that "with this fish, Jiang will live"

13. Fengdu Ghost Town.

The two met again.

Anlu at this time has obvious student characteristics.

14. Fuling Yidong.

Anlu appeared between the cliffs, and Gao Chun called her name.

She stopped to look back and walked more decisively.

The ship sailed quickly. Anlu appeared again, relying on an unknown tool.

Without saying a word, without moving.

15. Gao Chun stopped at the dock for the first time in his life.

Looking back, Anlu disappeared again.

Then I struggled for a long time, and the anchor seemed to be stuck.

That night, Anlu was climbing a mountain, hiding between Shan Ye, carrying a bag and never coming back.

Background sound:

Read poetry. Huge fish-shaped creatures in the river.

The big fish hit the hull and was able to sail

16. Two ships that are not in the same time and space meet.

The lens is clear: the distance is about three or four meters.

Gao Chun took the poem in Anlu's hand.

Tear it to pieces.

He told Anlu:

You don't need poetry, you don't need to experience what I have experienced.

So, what did Anlu experience?

The story can be found here:

/kloc-in the winter of 0/989, Gao Chun and Anlu met.

Gao Chun likes to write poems. After several decades, he has changed from an energetic literary youth to a middle-aged literary youth. Live a very bad life.

Father passed away. Can only come back and inherit the family business. Young artists are really not good at business. They temporarily raised prices in Jiangyin, which laid a curse for cooperation, resulting in the loss of goods later, and he himself was stabbed to death in Yibin.

Young Gao Chun couldn't beat his father and walked on the river with him. When I was sailing, I dreamed of becoming a literary youth.

Later, An Lu met her husband Hong Wei while practicing. But at this point, Anlu is still thinking about Gao Chun.

Bitter waiting.

Give up practice, endure pain, etc.

Marry Hong Wei.

Gaochun appeared, Anlu derailed, was found by her husband when she sent Gaochun away, and committed suicide.

Trapped by moral constraints and deep remorse, she asked three questions in the tower and finally came to the conclusion:

"Indifference is a sin."

So she became a prostitute and embraced and warmed everyone.

At the end, Gao Chun looked back at the Yangtze River on the Chumar River and extended to the source of the Yangtze River.

Anlu stands among a pile of Buddha statues, and the identity of a prostitute can be explained in another way-"being a bodhisattva".

Anlu guards her Yangtze River and loves many people.

From this perspective, the text is indeed complete.

Gao Chun tore up his poems, and Anlu's life went to another track.

Gao Chun has completed his self-redemption, but he is also willing to face his bumpy life and the changes of people and things on the Yangtze River.

The map of the Yangtze River is obviously preoccupied and awkward in the text. But that's also its charm.

Whether it is the story of the opposite development of two rivers in time or the perfect restoration of the scenery along the Yangtze River, it is worth praising and remembering.
