Artistic conception is a complex spiritual activity. It is the artist's choice, refinement, processing, transformation and fiction of life phenomena on the basis of experiencing the art of life, so as to express his thoughts and feelings and form aesthetic images.

Artistic conception begins with the germination of creative desire and ends with the completion of aesthetic image.

Artistic conception is the central link of artistic creation. Only through artistic conception can the artist's artistic experience of life be transformed into works of art.

The function of artistic conception is to produce aesthetic images in the artist's mind. The appearance of aesthetic image marks the completion of artistic conception.

Second, the characteristics of aesthetic images.

Artistic communication is the continuation of artistic conception and the completion of artistic creation.

Artistic works and artistic images are the final result of artistic communication and the material embodiment of spiritual labor in artistic creation.

The aesthetic image produced in the artistic conception stage is an internal visual image containing emotion, and it is impossible to produce aesthetic image without emotion.

The stage of artistic communication is also a creative activity accompanied by emotion.
