First look at the purpose of our college entrance examination composition. The former State Education Commission stipulated in the Purpose of Chinese Teaching in Senior High School: "The purpose of Chinese teaching in senior high school is to improve students' Chinese ability." Whether the poems written by students in such a realistic poetry environment can correctly "use the language of the motherland" has at least become a problem! To take a step back, if students are immune to the influence of modern poetry, and if we all agree that poetry is "shortlisted", should the requirement of not less than 800 words mentioned by many provinces be changed? So why didn't anyone ask for change? It can be seen that the amount of words is very important for evaluating students' level. People realize this, but at the same time they don't realize that the number of words in poetry is small, so the evaluation level is relatively low, and the evaluator can't form a very comprehensive evaluation of students-another point. So generally speaking, poetry is not suitable for examination and selective composition.
Secondly, it depends on the evaluation method of college entrance examination composition. In this regard, many articles have talked about "disregard for human life" in the composition correction of the college entrance examination, which is also the reality of the "national conditions" of the college entrance examination: the marking points of a province have been measured, and nearly 300,000 compositions have to be corrected within 10 days, and 180 teachers have to mark papers. Not to mention the evaluation of poetry depends on the author's background and other additional conditions. As far as judging time is concerned, writing poetry is playing with fire.
Finally, for the proposer, it is very simple to remove the rejection of poetry from the propositional requirements, only a few words are needed. Anyway, the number of candidates written is still relatively small, which will not affect the stability of the basic situation of the whole college entrance examination composition. Moreover, the national policy encourages the rejection of poetry, so they can get a good impression on public opinion. It can be said that there is absolutely no ideological burden, and it can basically be said to be a harmless "good thing." Why didn't the proposer remove it? Why are they so stubborn and against public opinion? This can only show that the proposer has something that he thinks is more important than winning the support of public opinion, that is, being responsible for the vast number of candidates. Everyone knows the weight of composition in the whole college entrance examination. What if the examinee wrote a poem, because the proposer didn't refuse, and happened to meet a reviewer with low poetry level, and was sentenced to an unreasonable score? So the proponent is also well-intentioned.
In a word, I think it is wrong to exclude poetry from college entrance examination composition, but it is very reasonable to base the college entrance examination on China's national conditions. Although Zhao Lihua suspected that "the education department didn't want to improve the appreciation and evaluation of modern poetry, but just avoided it", in the spirit of being responsible for the majority of candidates, poetry "shortlisted" was not beneficial to candidates, but harmful.
