A trip to Hainan, Qiongtai Academy, Qiongtai Academy, and a visit to the Academy

Qiongtai Academy is located in Chengguan Town, Qiongshan County, Hainan Province. It was originally the highest institution for training talents in ancient Qiongya. Because of the story of "Search Academy", it has become a famous cultural relic in China.

According to legend, the name of Qiongtai Academy was named in memory of Qiu Jun, a great scholar in Ming Dynasty, who was also a native of Fucheng ... The Academy was built in the forty-ninth year of Kangxi (17 10), with a history of more than 200 years. It was created by Jiao who patrolled Lei Qiong. The main building is a two-story pavilion with green tiles and red corridors. The name of the building "Kuixing" is to wish literature prosperity and talented people come forth in large numbers. The building was just a pavilion when it was first built. In the eighteenth year of Qing Qianlong, the academy was expanded and the pavilion was expanded into Kuixing Building. In front of Kuixing Building, a stone tablet about two meters high stands among the flowers and trees. The inscription reads "Building the Kuixing Building Monument of Qiongtai Academy". The inscription below records the time and process of building this building.

Kuixing Building is spacious, clear and magnificent, and it has been well preserved so far. This is a brick-wood building with national style. Its truss beams are carved with beautiful patterns. Stick dark green porcelain tiles on the upper and lower eaves tiles. In the middle of the beam on the second floor hangs a large gold plaque with the word "Jinshi" written on it, which was given to Zhang Rimin, the top scholar of Qiongtai Academy, by the court after he won the Jinshi.

It is said that the story of the drama search academy happened here. Legend has it that one year on the Double Ninth Festival, Ada, the maid of Daotai House in Qiongzhou, accompanied her to fly a kite. The kite fell off the line and was picked up by Zhang Rimin, a student of Qiongtai Academy. Zhang Xinshou wrote a poem on a kite. Ada is looking for a kite, and Zhang Luyu is a Japanese citizen. They fall in love at first sight and talk to each other. Afterwards, Mrs. Dao found the poem on the kite, severely punished Ada, and prepared to give Ada to Mrs. Zhen as a concubine. Ada disguised as a man in the middle of the night and fled to the academy to find Zhang Rimin. The town station heard the news and led the troops to search the academy. Xie Bao, who is in charge of the academy, refused to search the town station under the pretext of "the important place of the academy" The town station had no choice but to order the soldiers to besiege the academy and take Xie Bao to Daotai Prefecture for adjudication. Xie Bao took the opportunity to hide Ada under the sedan chair and cleverly let her go on the way. Zhang Rimin and Ada finally got married. According to local records, Xie Bao in the story of "Searching Academy" did exist in history. He is from Qi Long Village, Qiongshan County (now a suburb of Haikou City). He was a scholar of Jiaqing Branch of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty, and soon returned to his hometown to teach as an official in Qiongtai Academy. Now a five-character quatrain written by him hangs on the Kuixing Building: "The old tree is tender, the branches in spring have melted, the guest window is quiet, the moon is bright, and it is ready."

With the abolition of the imperial examination system, Qiongtai Academy was renamed Qiongya Middle School on 1902, and the Sixth Normal School of Guangdong Province on 1920, and later Qiongtai Normal School of Guangdong Province.
