Retro photos should naturally be matched with retro scenes ~ Today, let's teach you how to make poster pictures with retro feelings with your own photos! ! The software is Meitu Xiu Xiu, simple and easy to do!
Steps/methods
1. First, let's look at the result diagram:
Let's get started. Open the software and select a material picture. You can use the "matting pen" under beautification or "matting as background" under the scene.
3. Select manual matting. Start at a certain distance from the edge of the picture and connect the edge shape into a relatively flat line. Remember to click the left key to fix the corner first. You can adjust the points after the matting is completed.
4. Click "Foreground is Material" below the finished matting, and the software will automatically classify it under "Custom" of ornaments, and make other materials in the same way.
5. Open your own photos and use the automatic matting method mentioned above. Like the material, my photo cutout finished product is also clicked on the foreground as the material.
6. Open the background picture, select jewelry items, click "Switch Classification" in the right column, select Custom, and then put the previously prepared random materials into the picture.
7. According to the suitability of the material and your own photos, choose to delete and change the location of the material. Your own retro poster will be finished.
How to make this antique poster effect with PS? Just find the materials and put them together. This is a simple poster.
Step 1: Look for retro background pictures, such as retro kraft paper, then people, red prints and retro fonts.
Step 2: Dig out the characters and put them where you want (you can adjust the color of the characters with hue saturation to make the characters match the background better).
Step 3: Add retro elements such as words and seals.
Step 4: Add a layer on it, fill it with retro yellow, set the positive overlay effect, and reduce the transparency.
Step 5: If you want the feeling of lomo, you can use a circular gradient, adjust the transparency of the middle color to 0, and use black at the four corners to make a positive overlay effect and adjust the transparency.
The final effect of making retro-style planetary landscape posters with PS;
Step 1: Create file
Open PS, press Ctrl+N on the keyboard or click File.
Create. In the pop-up dialog box, create a PS file of 1200x 1600px.
Fill the background with black (#000000) after creation.
Step 2: Add stars
We just need to add stars to the scene with the material pictures. At the beginning, you need to download and open the picture CapodimonteDeepField in WikimediaCommons. This photo is provided by ESO (European Southern Observatory).
Use the free transform tool Ctrl+T to change the size of the material picture to match the size of our canvas.
Now that we have a star in space, we can make some minor adjustments to it. First, select an image.
adjust
Curve or press the shortcut key Ctrl+M to darken the image and highlight the bright stars.
We can also lower the hue and choose the image.
adjust
Hue/saturation, shortcut key Ctrl+U, and adjust the saturation to -50.
Step 3: Add a gradient
To make it have a faded retro style, one thing to do is to add a color gradient. Create a new layer (Shift+Ctrl+N). Double-click the new layer to open the layer style dialog box and add a gradient overlay: yellow _ magenta _ cyan (see the figure below).
Then, adjust the opacity of the layer to 15%.
Step 4: Create a landscape.
Now let's create a section under our work. First download the material picture Badlands and drag it to PS.
Use the path selection of the pen tool (P) (found in the options bar) to tick off the part of the rock landscape and discharge the part of the sky. Right-click the path created by the pen tool to create a selection (Ctrl+Enter), Ctrl+Shift+I to reverse the selection and delete the sky.
Use the free transform tool (Ctrl+T) to adjust the picture to fit the canvas.
Then we make some adjustments and distort our landscape pictures. First, select an image.
adjust
The curve (Ctrl+M) forms the curve shown in the figure below.
Next, select the image.
adjust
Tone/saturation, and adjust the saturation to -40.
Next, in the Layers panel, move the landscape layer below the gradient layer.
Step 5: Add a cloud.
In the cloud, we used the material map of Swede 3;
Open image
adjust
Color scale (Ctrl+L). First, set the dark field by clicking the black eyedropper icon (that is, the three leftmost eyedropper icons), and then click the darkest part of the cloud material picture. Secondly, set the white field by clicking the white eyedropper icon (this is the rightmost straw), and then click the brightest part in the image. This level of image adjustment will illuminate bright areas and darken dark areas, thus adding good contrast between bright and dark to the image.
We only need a part of the cloud image (the upper part of the image), so we use the rectangular marquee tool (M) to select the part of the sky, and then deselect (Ctrl+I) to delete the unnecessary part.
All we need is clouds, and we are not interested in the blue sky. So we click select.
Color range, in the dialog box, be sure to select the eyedropper (the one without+and-).
In the canvas, we click the blue part, and in the dialog box, adjust the color tolerance to about 1 15 to ensure that we select all the blue areas. You can be sure when it will be finished.
Then reverse selection, select
Reverse (Ctrl+Shift+I).
Then select the layer.
newly-built
Create a layer of cloud in the new layer by copying the layer (Ctrl+J).
Ctr+T Pay attention to adjusting the size of clouds and the context of layers.
Now let's cover some clouds and make them better integrated into our scene.
Next, the layer
Layer mask
Show all, or click Add Vector Mask directly below the layer.
Select the brush tool (b) and adjust the brush hardness to 0%. Start painting on the top and bottom of the cloud, so that we can finally get a more natural cloud.
Now we need the cloud to blend into the background. First, select the Gradient Tool (G) from the Tool Panel and set the foreground color to white (#ffffff). On the Options Bar, set the gradient preset of the gradient tool from foreground color to transparent, and choose the way of gradient symmetry.
After setting, pull a gradient from the bottom of the cloud to the top of the cloud.
Step 6: Create a planet.
Next, we will add a planet to our work with the texture map. (The material is)
Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool, hold down Shift, make a perfect circle, and then create a circular selection on the material. Go through this floor
Copy Layer (Ctrl+C) Copies the selected layer. We can now hide the original layer.

Now, we are going to add some subtle stripes to our planet. Create a new layer, and then use the rectangle marquee tool to create some random rectangles across the planet. Use Edit to fill the selection with black (#000000).
Fill (Shift+F5)
filter
punch-drunk
Gaussian blur, set the radius to 20px, and then confirm. This filter can make the stripes softer and more natural.
choose
Load the selection, check the deselect option, and then press OK, or hold down Ctrl and click the layer, then Ctrl+Shift+I, make sure to select the stripe layer, and then delete some unnecessary stripes.
Now we're going to lower the color of the planet. draw
adjust
Hue/saturation, shortcut key Ctrl+U, reduce the saturation to-100.
Let's add more things to this planet, we can say, make it look more like a planet. Click on the Planetary Layer and select.
Load the selection (hold down Ctrl and click the layer), and then select the filter.
distort
Spheroidization Change the number to 50%, and then click OK to apply this filter.
Repeat the above filter for the stripe layer, and directly press the shortcut key Ctrl+F (the last filter operation).
The opacity of the varying stripe layer is set to 80%.
Hide the background layer (if any), and then layer.
Merge visible layers (Ctrl+Shift+E).
Then, adjust the size of the earth layer to fit the scene, and then put it behind the clouds.
Step 7: Create shadows, highlights and enhance the texture of the planet.
First, we need to add a little light to the planet. Select planetary layer, layer
Layer style
Shadow, or double-click the layer to select a shadow.
The internal shadow settings are as follows:
The color overlay is as follows:
The gradient overlay is as follows:
Our planet looks like this:
Step 8: Add lens halo
To make our planet shine, we need to add a lens halo to our scene. Create a new layer, fill it with black (#000000), and then click the filter.
come on
Lens halo. Select the lens type as focal plane and ensure that the brightness option is set to 100%.
Then, the layer tries several different blending modes and finds the best one.
Step 9: Add light to the landscape.
Create a new layer on the star layer. Set the foreground color to pink (#cc0033), switch to the gradient tool, select the foreground color as transparent gradient preset, select the radial gradient option, and then create a radial gradient from the bottom to the planet.
After that, reduce the opacity of the layer to 60%.
Our scenery will have subtle light.
Step 10: Give the scene a bright hue.
Give the whole work a glowing tone, we are on the first floor.
New adjustment layer
Gradient Map (or click the "New Fill or Adjust Layer" icon next to "Add layer mask" in the lower right corner of the layer panel and select "Gradient Map") to add an adjustment layer on the layer panel. Select a gradient map adjustment layer from purple to yellow. Next, reduce the opacity of the layer to 15%.
Step 1 1: Add text.
Now, let's put our design elements together, and finally, we will add some text.
First, we will use "DesignInstruct" as the title. In this part, we only need to input the text and use the horizontal text tool (T). The font I use is Garamond, but you can choose almost any font as long as you feel good. Then I will adjust the arrangement of two lines with different font sizes.
Draw a circle in the middle of the canvas, right-click the layer, turn it into a smart object and delete the layer, then create a new layer and enter the text "FORALLTHINSDESIGN". The open source font I chose is "LeagueGothic".
Hold down the Ctrl key and click the FORALLTHINGSDESIGN layer to create a selection. Select the circular layer, and then press the Delete key on the keyboard to delete the selected area.
Finally, delete the "FORALLTHINGSDESIGN" layer, and change the title text layer and circular layer to white.
Tutorial summary
In this tutorial, we created a fictional planet landscape and his outer space as the background. We use different design elements, such as photos and textures, to create our works. We rely on simple but powerful tools, such as PS layer style, layer mask, free transformation, filters and so on. The final result is as follows:
