From Qu Yuan's "Li Sao"
The road is long and long, and I will search up and down. The meaning of these two sentences is: The road ahead is long and far, and I will pursue my ideal up and down.
"Li Sao" was written when Qu Yuan was exiled to the south of the Yangtze River. It is a work of poet full of patriotic passion to express sorrow and anger. The first half repeatedly expresses the poet's concern for the fate of Chu State and people's lives, expresses the desire to reform politics and the will to adhere to ideals and never compromise with evil forces; the second half expresses the pursuit of the realization of ideals and the desire to die for the country after failure. The statement reflects the poet's thoughts and feelings of loving the country and its people.
The author Qu Yuan is the founder of Chinese romantic literature and a great patriotic poet in China. It is usually celebrated on the Dragon Boat Festival to commemorate Qu Yuan.
