1. "The Swordsman" Tang Jia Dao
After ten years of sharpening a sword, the frost blade has never been tested.
I will tell you today, who has any injustice?
Translation:
After ten years of hard work, I sharpened a sharp sword. The blade shone with cold light, but the edge was not tested.
Take it out now and show it to you. If anyone has any injustice, you might as well tell me truthfully.
2. "Viewing the Sea" Cao Cao of the Han Dynasty
To the east is Jieshi to view the sea.
Where is the water? The mountains and islands are standing tall.
There are many trees and lush grass.
The autumn wind is bleak and the waves are rising.
The journey of the sun and the moon can only come out of it;
The stars are shining brightly, as if they can come out of it.
Fortunately, I sing to express my ambition.
Translation:
Go east and climb Jieshi Mountain to see the vast sea.
The sea is so vast and vast, and the mountain islands stand high on the seashore.
The trees and grass are overgrown and very lush.
The autumn wind blows the trees and makes a sad sound, and huge waves surge in the sea.
The movements of the sun and moon seem to emanate from this vast ocean.
The stars of the Milky Way are brilliant, as if they were produced from this vast ocean.
I am very happy and use this poem to express my inner ambition.
3. "Miscellaneous Poems of Ji Hai·Part 5"
Gong Zizhen of the Qing Dynasty
The sun is setting in the daytime of the mighty separation, and the whip is chanting to the east and pointing to the end of the world.
The falling red is not a heartless thing, it turns into spring mud to protect the flowers.
Translation:
The vast sadness of farewell extends to the distance where the sunset sets in the west. After leaving Beijing, I wave my riding whip eastward and feel as if I am at the end of the world.
When I resign and return home, I am like a fallen flower falling from a branch, but it is not a ruthless thing. It turns into the soil of spring and can also play a role in nurturing the next generation.
4. "Ode to Chrysanthemums by Budihou" by Tang Huangchao
When autumn comes on September 8th, I will kill all the flowers after they bloom.
The towering incense array penetrates Chang'an, and the whole city is covered with golden armor.
Translation:
When the Double Ninth Festival comes in September in autumn, the chrysanthemums will bloom and other flowers will wither.
The chrysanthemums in full bloom are dazzling, and the fragrance fills the air. The whole city is bathed in the fragrance of chrysanthemums, and the golden armor-like chrysanthemums are everywhere.
5. "Crossing the Lingding Ocean" by Wen Tianxiang of the Song Dynasty
After a hard encounter, there are only a few stars around in the fight.
The mountains and rivers are broken, the wind flutters and the catkins float, and the life experience is ups and downs.
Afraid to say panic on the beach, sigh alone in the ocean.
Who has never died since ancient times? Keep your loyalty to reflect history.
Translation:
Looking back on the hard work I went through in my early years from the imperial examination to becoming an official, it has been four years since the war ended.
The dangers of the country are like catkins in the strong wind, and the ups and downs of my life are like duckweeds drifting in the rain with no roots, rising and sinking.
The disastrous defeat in Panpantan makes me still terrified. Ling Dingyang was trapped in Yuanlu, but I felt lonely and alone.
Who has been able to live forever since ancient times? I want to leave a piece of patriotic loyalty reflected in the annals of history.
