1965438+2006 Tsinghua University graduated from American preparatory school;
19 17 studied at the university of Virginia;
19 18 transferred to the Department of Comparative Literature of Harvard University, and obtained a bachelor's degree (1920) and a master's degree (192 1 year);
1930 ~ 193 1 year, studied in western Europe and worked in Oxford university and Paris university successively.
From 192 1 to 1949, he served as a professor at Southeast University and Northeastern University successively; Director of China Institute of Tsinghua University (National Southwest Associated University) and Professor of Foreign Languages Department; Professor and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Wuhan University; Professor of Xianghui College, Mianren College and Sichuan Institute of Education. During this period, he was a professor in Peking University, yenching university, Beiping Normal University, Yunnan University, Sichuan University, Huazhong University and Chongqing University.
Since 1950, he has studied in the Department of Foreign Languages of Southwest Normal University (1950 ~ 1954), the Department of History (1955 ~ 1957) and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature (now Southwest University College of Literature) (/kl)
He has taught English, English poetry, translation, English prose, western novels, foreign literature, European and American literature, classical literature, western literary criticism, western literary masterpieces, the history of English literature, the history of world literature, the comparison between Chinese and western poetry, the study of China's old poems and novels, world history and ancient world history. In 1950s and 1960s, he compiled lectures and teaching materials such as General History of the World, Foreign Literature, Selected Readings of Famous Foreign Literary Works, Outline of the History of China Literature, Brief Table of the Evolution (Development and Change) of Chinese Characters, Concise English Grammar, French Grammar and Latin Grammar. When he was in charge of Tsinghua Sinology Research Institute, he hired professors Wang Guowei, Liang Qichao, Zhao Yuanren and Chen Yinque successively, and trained a number of first-class scholars such as Qian Zhongshu, Ji Xianlin, Xu Zhongshu and Gao Feng for China.

1920 Harvard University published The New Theory of A Dream of Red Mansions (The Third Series of Research Resources on A Dream of Red Mansions, People's Literature Publishing House, 1976), and later published papers in both Chinese and English, such as Stone Review, Literary Evaluation of A Dream of Red Mansions, A Dream of Red Mansions and World Literature, and Typical Characters of A Dream of Red Mansions. As editor-in-chief, he published 79 issues. Editor of literary supplement of Ta Kung Pao, published 3 16. He used to be the editor of Wuhan Daily Literature Supplement (1947, writing, proofreading and editing) and published 52 issues. Many western literary theories and masterpieces with the rhythm of classical Chinese and old poems were translated and published in Xue Heng magazine and literary supplement of Ta Kung Pao. At the invitation of Zhong Zheng Bookstore, he translated the pocket Oxford English-Chinese dictionary and served as the general school. Wu Mi's poetry anthology (Shanghai Zhonghua Book Company 1935) was published. 1956, 738 books on world history and literature were translated into titles, with authors' resumes and abstracts, and donated to the Library of Southwest Normal University (now Southwest University Library).
