Appreciation of Wang Changling's Poems

Qiantang River is in today's Zhejiang Province and flows through Hangzhou to the sea. This poem praises the beauty of Qiantang's daughter. The first two sentences of this poem are warm praise to Jiang's daughter from the front. It's upside down.

When the poet saw the women "grabbing flowers" by the Qiantang River, he couldn't help asking whose daughters they were. "Whose is it?" It is a kind of praise expressed in rhetoric, full of feelings of surprise and admiration, and its intention is not to ask who they are. Writing female beauty only uses the word "winning flowers", which is concise but vivid.

Next, the poet did not follow the above article and made a further concrete description of the beauty of women. Instead, he put down his pen and quoted historical stories to praise women. According to historical records, in the Spring and Autumn Period, Gou Jian was defeated by Fu Cha, the king of Wu. In order to make peace, Gou Jian made Fu Cha dissolute and lose his political power, and presented the beauty Shihe to Fu Cha, who Fu Cha liked very much. Shi He is the daughter of migrant workers in Zhuluoshan, south of Zhuji, Zhejiang. The Qiantang River has been a transit place since ancient times, so when the poet saw the beautiful daughters on the Qiantang River, he naturally associated them with harmony and felt that the daughters on the Qiantang River were as beautiful as them.

Li. The meaning of these two poems is that if it was in the era of Fu Cha, the king of Wu in the Spring and Autumn Period, these daughters on the Qiantang River would have been sent to the Wu Palace like a stone and could not get out of it. But it's not the past now. Today they openly come out to wash the yarn. "Yarn" is a kind of thin silk. A group of daughters more beautiful than flowers are washing their veils in the green river. They sang and laughed, and their flower-like faces reflected the green water and the veils in the water. -What a charming picture! The word "openness" not only contains the poet's sincere praise for world peace, but also shows the joy of daughters when washing yarn. The work quoted the example of the King of Wu, and while praising Qiantang's daughter, it also satirized the dissolute rulers of past dynasties, enriching the content of the work.
