Please explain Cheng Shili's poem "Hongzhao". Thank you very much.

The tone of Su Zhe's original poem is nostalgia, because when he was nineteen years old, he was appointed as the chief registrar of Mianchi County (he did not take up the post because he passed the Jinshi examination). In the first year of Jiayou's reign, he and his brother Shi followed him. My father and I went to the capital to take the exam, and passed by here to visit a monk and leave some questions. So he wrote in the poem: "Have you ever been a county official? Do you know that there is an inscription on the wall of the monk's room where I stayed." He felt that these experiences were really full of chance.

If you have no fate with Mianchi, why are you always associated with it? If we are destined to Mianchi, why can't we stay there for a little longer? This is the emotion in Su Che's poem. Based on these emotions, Su Shi further made a discussion on life. These are the first four lines of the poem.

In Su Shi’s view, not only the specific life path is uncertain, but the whole life is also full of unknowability, just like the swan geese occasionally stopping on the snow during flight, leaving imprints, and the flying snow Transformation, everything ceases to exist. So, is there a force in the dark that controls this behavior? If life is composed of countless coordinate points, then are there any rules to follow for these coordinate points? The young Su Shi had such questions and laments about life. However, the unknowability of life does not mean that life is blind; although the past has disappeared, it does not mean that it never existed. Take, for example, the experience of riding a donkey on the difficult and rugged mountain road on the mountain road. Isn't it a kind of experience, an experience, and a kind of wealth in life? Therefore, although life is impermanent, we should not give up our efforts; although many things are accidental, we should not give up the pursuit of inevitability.

In fact, if you don’t go through a lot of hardships, how can you get a Jinshi and realize your ambition? This is Su Shi: he is both in-depth about the essence of life and full of optimism. His entire outlook on life is displayed here in miniature.

The rationale and interest of this poem are mainly reflected in the first four sentences. "Snow mud and claws" has also been widely recited by later generations as an idiom. But from the perspective of writing techniques, it is also quite unique. Ji Yun once commented: "The first four lines of single lines are in the old style of the Tang Dynasty; and the free and easy artistic conception is the true character of Dongpo." The so-called "old style of the Tang Dynasty" generally refers to Cui Hao's "Yellow Crane Tower": "In the past People have gone by the Yellow Crane, and the Yellow Crane Tower is empty here. Once the Yellow Crane is gone, it will never return, and the white clouds will remain empty for thousands of years..." As a Qilu, the third and fourth sentences are supposed to be in opposition, but this one is straight forward and does not make any emphasis. Su Shi's two sentences "on the mud" can also be regarded as a counterpoint, but the meaning of the text is directly related to the above, and it also has a relationship of succession, so it is a "single line into the law". The meaning of "the artistic conception is free and easy" means that it is not only elegant in words and powerful in writing, but also rich in connotation and thought-provoking, and it is self-made without asking for work. This is exactly Su Shi's "true character".

Annotation: Su Che, Su Shi's younger brother. Mianchi: Today's Mianchi County, Henan Province. Know what it looks like: Know what it looks like. Jian: lame, lame.

A brief analysis of this poem is about the poet's nostalgia for the past. "Snow and mud claws" are used to describe the traces left by people unintentionally, just like the paw prints of a flying tiger on the snow. For example, the old monk’s new pagoda and the old inscriptions on the broken walls are just claw marks in the mud. He laments that life is uncertain, but the bumpy experiences of the past still remain in people’s memories, and the claw marks on their hearts are indelible. The whole poem contains novel metaphors and skillful craftsmanship, and expresses the infinite affection for life.

〔Appreciation〕One time Su Shi and his younger brother Su Che (Ziyou) passed by Chi Mian. Their horse died on the road. The above poem. Later Ziyou wrote a poem "Mianchi Nostalgia". Dongpo revisited his old place. The old monk who had received him wholeheartedly had died. A new pagoda had been built in the temple for the old monk. The temple wall where Dongpo brothers wrote poems was also damaged! I can no longer see the old poem. Dongpo wrote this poem with mixed emotions, feeling that life is like a flying star.
