Appreciation of dreams (Ai Qing)

dream

Author: Ai Qing

When awake

Can only fantasize

Dreams will visit them when they are asleep.

Maybe childhood friends.

Maybe friends come from afar.

There is pain on the wire bed.

There is joy on the straw.

Give when needed.

Massive theft

It's not a false alarm

If something is lost,

Appreciation: In the early days of the Anti-Japanese War, Ai Qing enthusiastically searched for the light, "from East to Central China, from Central China to North, from North to South, from South to Northwest" (note: Introduction to Selected Works of Ai Qing), and finally found a bright place-Yan 'an. In the past few years, he has tirelessly searched for and created a large number of poems. His poems poured out the sufferings of the nation, praised the struggle of the motherland and profoundly reflected the spirit of the Anti-Japanese War.

His poems also show his personal style and artistic talent. Ai Qing was one of the most representative and accomplished poets in the early days of the Anti-Japanese War. Most of the images in poetry represent new objects. Childhood friends are beautiful, and friends far away are also beautiful. Even though life is often accompanied by pain and shadow, the future is still bright and beautiful. Especially after liberation, the poems praising everyone's enthusiasm for building a new China show the poet's infinite expectation for the motherland.

Dream is an illusory word, but Ai Qing gave it hope, representing the light that the people of China are looking for and symbolizing the rise of a new China.
