The pass is cold in August, and cicadas sing and mulberry sparse. Go through the gate, come back, and along the road, there is nothing but yellow reeds and grass. "These four sentences are written in frontier fortress autumn scenery, which is infinitely desolate and infinitely sad. Chilling cicada, mulberry forest, Xiao Guan, frontier fortress and autumn grass are all synonymous with sadness in China's ancient poetry images. This poem, with the background of deliberately describing the cold autumn scenery, paves the way for the later anti-war theme. I am deeply sympathetic to writing about guarding the border and recruiting people.
The first two actions:
For the first time, the poet strongly exaggerates the sad atmosphere with "cicadas singing mulberries" and writes with sound, environment and emotion. In particular, the word "empty" gives people a bleak feeling. The leaves are empty and the ears are cold. How can pedestrians be embarrassed? The first two sentences of this poem point out the season and the specific position of the frontier fortress, and at the same time, through the description of cicada singing and sparse mulberry, the desolate environment atmosphere of the frontier fortress is rendered. The word "empty" not only indicates that the mulberry leaves have fallen, but also indicates that the forest is empty and bleak, giving people a strong sense of loneliness. The poet also used chilling cries to further contrast the depression and isolation of the frontier fortress. Three or four sentences, on the one hand, suggest that the border situation is tense in this crisp autumn season, on the other hand, from the description of the palace environment where Huang Wei is everywhere and hay is everywhere inside and outside Xiaoguan, it shows the hardships of the soldiers guarding the border.
Wang Changling's "Xia Sai Quyi"
Original text:
The withered mulberry trees sing cicadas, and the intersection of Xiaoguan in August is crisp in autumn.
Through the gate and back, along the way, nothing but yellow reeds and grass.
Heroes come to you and the ice, and they bury their lives in the dust.
Learn to boast about brave rangers and horses.
Rhyme translation
Cicada chirps in the withered mulberry forest, and autumn is crisp on Xiaoguan Road in August.
After entering the fortress, the climate became cold, and the inside and outside of the pass were all yellow reeds.
Heroes who have come to Shanxi and Hebei since ancient times are always accompanied by sand and dust.
Don't be like that brave ranger who boasted about his war horse.
