8 The half tribe of Manasseh and the tribes of Reuben and Gad had already inherited it, even Moses, the servant of the LORD. What was given to them east of the Jordan was
9 From Aroer, which is by the valley of Arnon, and the cities in the valley, and all the plain of Medeba as far as Dibon,
10 And the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the territory of the Ammonites.
11 And the land of Gilead, the territory of the Geshurites, and the territory of the Maachahites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan, as far as Sakhar.
12 And the whole kingdom of Og king of Bashan, who reigned in Ashtoroth and Edrei, was the only one left of the Rephaim. The people in these lands were all whom Moses killed and drove out.
13 But the Israelites did not drive out the Geshurites and Maachahites, who still live in Israel to this day.
14 But to the tribe of Levi, Moses did not give any inheritance to them. Their inheritance was an offering made by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, just as the LORD had promised them.
15Moses gave inheritance to the tribe of Reuben according to their clans.
16 Their border was Aroer by the valley of Arnon and the cities in the valley, and all the plain near Medeba;
17 Heshbon and the plain of Heshbon the cities of Dibon, Bamoth-baal, Beth-baalmion,
18 Jazab, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
19 Kiriathim, Sibmah, Zelehashasheth in the mountains of the valley,
20 Beth-peor, on the hillside of Pisgah, Beth-jesimoth,
21 All the cities in the plain, and all the territory of Sihon king of the Amorites . This Sihon had reigned in Heshbon, and Moses smote him and the Midianite chiefs Evi, Rekim, Sur, Hur, and Reba. These were all those who lived in that land and were led by Sihon.
22Then the Israelites also killed Balaam the sorcerer, the son of Beor, with the edge of the sword among those whom they had killed.
23The territory of the Reubenites was the Jordan River and the land adjacent to the Jordan River. These are the cities that the Reubenites inherited according to their clans, and the villages that belonged to the cities.
24Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of Gad according to their clans.
25 Their border was Jazer and the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon as far as Aroer, which is before Rabbah.
26 From Heshbon to Ramoth-Mizpah and Bidonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir,
27 And Beth-aram and Bonim in the valley Lah, Succoth, and Zaphon, that is, the remainder of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan and the land adjacent to the Jordan, as far as the end of the sea of ??Chinnereth, all on the east side of the Jordan.
28 These are the cities that the Gadites inherited according to their clans, and the villages that belonged to the cities.
29 Moses gave the inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh, according to the clans of the half-tribe of Manasseh.
30 Their territory began from Mahanaim, including all Bashan, all the country of Og king of Bashan, and all the cities in Bashan and Jair, *** sixty .
31 Half of Gilead, Ashtaroth and Edrei, the two cities of the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, were given to the descendants of Machir son of Manasseh according to their families.
32 These are the inheritances that Moses gave them in the plains of Moab, east of the Jordan, facing Jericho.
33 But to the tribe of Levi, Moses did not give any inheritance to them. The Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, just as the Lord had promised them.

From the beginning of this passage to twenty-one chapters The scriptures all describe the division of the land among the Israelites.
When dividing the land, we first talk about the issue of Joshua’s old age. The Bible tells us that Joshua is very old, but he is still concerned about the issue of the promised land. There is still much of the promised land yet to be taken. Among them were the land of the Philistines, the land of the Geshurites, and many other places that had not yet been taken. However, God promised Joshua that I would drive them out before the Israelites. However, due to Joshua's age, he needed to distribute the land to all the Israelites immediately. Let them seize the Promised Land by the grace of God.
The Bible continues to point out that there are not only many unoccupied lands in the land of Canaan on the west bank of the Jordan River, but there are still many unoccupied lands east of the Jordan River that need to be captured by the Israelites. But the Israelites east of the Jordan did not drive out the Geshurites and Maachahites, and they eventually settled among the Israelites. The reason why those who were not driven out is not clearly stated here, but through the book of Judges, we understand that it may be caused by their failure to obey God's commandments.
However, verses 15/31 describe the distribution of the land for the half tribe of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh. However, no land was given to the Levites, because they lived in the land prepared by God for them, and the Levites regarded God as their inheritance.
Meditation:
Under the leadership of Joshua, Israel still has many unconquered lands, but this responsibility lies with the subsequent Israelites. That is, the next generation. However, when we think about the great commission God has given us today, there is still a lot of unreached ground. We need to go out and, by God’s grace, take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Take possession of the untaken territory.
So how can we put this into action?
