Li Bai is a representative of romantic poetry in Tang Dynasty and a master of China's poetry. His works have a unique style and far-reaching influence. As one of his masterpieces, Jiang Jin Jiu has been translated into many English versions by many famous translators. This paper intends to make a comparative analysis of Sun Dayu's and Xu Yuanchong's versions of Jiang from four aspects: words, rhythm, rhetoric and meaning, so as to reveal their respective advantages, so that each version can learn from each other.

During the Tang Dynasty, poetry reached its peak, especially represented by Li Bai (701–762). As the most famous romantic poet, Li Bai enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad. His Into the Wine has been translated into many English versions by famous translators, including Sun Dayu and Xu Yuanchong. The two translation masters adopted different translation strategies, so the translated versions showed different styles, especially in the aspects of "similarity in form" and "similarity in spirit". The debate about whether translation should pursue "similarity in form" or "similarity in spirit" has never stopped. For translators such as Bian who support "image", "image" is the foundation, and then the pursuit of "image". Many translators, represented by Fu Lei, believe that translation should be like painting, and "image" is better than "likeness". In fact, "form and spirit are fundamentally interdependent" (Xu Jun, 2003). Therefore, Mr. Qian Zhongshu called for both form and spirit, and proposed that "culture" should be the highest realm of literary translation, especially poetry translation. Poetry itself is a high degree of integration of form and spirit, and the unity of form and spirit is the goal of translation.
