There is a dragon in the far east
-----Hongshan Jasper Dragon
1 The dragon is a symbol of the civilization and spirit of the Chinese nation. Every descendant of Yan and Huang proudly calls themselves "descendants of the dragon." However, what does the dragon's original state look like? When and where did the sacred and profound dragon culture originate?
2 After waiting for thousands of years, people finally unveiled the mystery of "China's First Dragon". It is called Hongshan Bishan Dragon and was unearthed in Sanxing Talagacha Village (meaning "beautiful meadow" in Mongolian) north of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia.
3 The Hongshan Jasper Dragon is dark green in color, 26 centimeters tall, and weighs 1,000 grams. Its body is in the shape of the English letter C, so it is named the C-shaped jade dragon. The jade dragon is carved from a whole piece of jade, with relief, shallow carving and other techniques used in the details. The jade dragon as a whole gives people a sense of strength and movement, making people seem to feel the magical power of dragons in myths and legends that travel through space and are omnipotent. The Hongshan Jasper Dragon was produced about 5,000-6,000 years ago and is the earliest dragon-shaped jade unearthed in China. Its unearthed signifies that the totem worship of the dragon was formed in the upper reaches of the Xiliao River more than 5,000 years ago, and reflects the profound and long-lasting historical connotation of Hongshan culture.
4 The Jasper Dragon in Hongshan is famous all over the world and must be known all over the world. Unexpectedly, this triggered a dispute over "real and fake Jade Dragon"!
5 Since the Hongshan Jade Dragon became famous, the Chifeng area where it was discovered has exploded, and all kinds of fake Jade Dragons have emerged one after another. The appearance and luster of many "copycat versions" of the Red Mountain and Bishan Dragons are very similar to those of real Jade Dragons, and ordinary people can hardly tell the difference between the real ones and the fake ones. Many collectors who love dragons have been fooled by counterfeiters.
6 If you want to identify the real "China's No. 1 Dragon", the method is actually very simple! There is a small perforation on the back of the Hongshan Bishan Dragon, and the size is extremely precise. If you put a string through this small hole, hang the string up, and stop swinging, you will be surprised to find that the head and tail of the jade dragon are always at the same level. No matter how many counterfeiters try to imitate it, they cannot measure it so precisely and accurately grasp the size of the perforation. As long as you hang it with a string, the fake jade dragon will lose its balance and reveal its true form. Faced with the wisdom of the ancients, counterfeiters can only look forward to the "dragon" and feel ashamed. More than 5,000 years ago, in ancient times when measuring tools were extremely underdeveloped, it was difficult to carve a jade dragon with such precise mechanical dimensions by hand. It is simply harder than reaching the sky. So how was this jade dragon born? Scientists have yet to find the answer.
After 7 Hongshan Jasper Dragon was born in 1971, it was sent to Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries for exhibition, and received rave reviews. People praise it as "the first dragon in China". Now, it has been officially included in the National Museum of China and has become a first-class cultural relic in the permanent collection.
