Pieces of Twardowski's Poems

I was killed near Lejeune.

In that nameless swamp

The left wing of the fifth company

Encountered a brutal air raid.

I didn't hear a loud explosion.

Never witnessed a burning flame.

I fell off a cliff.

Endless abyss

In any corner of the world

Until the moment it perished.

You can't even find it.

The collar and epaulettes on my military uniform
