When the Lord Jesus came to Jordan and asked John to baptize him, John "stopped him". Obviously, John admitted that Jesus was the Messiah. Matthew didn't explain how he recognized Jesus from the crowd. But we can say for sure that this is completely touched, inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit.
John is a man from God (see Jn 1:6), and God sent him to testify for Christ. Which servant doesn't know his master? Which pioneer doesn't know marshal? Which bride doesn't know the groom? If so, wouldn't it be the most ridiculous thing in the world?
On the one hand, the Holy Spirit moved Jesus to the Jordan River. On the other hand, the Holy Spirit works on John to show him who is Christ. As long as a person works faithfully for the Lord, he will never lack the ability and authority from heaven. For since God raised him from the dead, he will be with him:
Judges 2: 18 the Lord raised judges for them, and he was with them.
So we say today: to do God's work, the ability is not important, but the source is important. Eloquence is not important, the throne is important. As long as you are from God, you must have the guidance and help of the Holy Spirit. Since he chose you, he will be responsible for you to the end. Because you didn't choose God, but God chose you.
If you choose God, you will regret it. Serve if you are happy, and stay if you are unhappy. But if God chooses you, he will never regret and never give up. Even if you dislike yourself, he won't dislike you. Even if you are weak and broken, he can still wake you up.
Sea fish of Sparidae 1 1:29 Because there is no regret for the gift and call of God.
Being a servant of God is really the happiest thing in the world!
John got to know Jesus under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. So he didn't dare to baptize Jesus: first, Jesus was innocent and didn't need to be baptized at all. Second, John is a servant and Jesus is a master. Which servant baptized his master? Third, John is a man and Jesus is a god. People are guilty, even John is not completely innocent. How dare he baptize the holy Jesus?
So he refused and said, "I should be baptized by you, but you came to me?" John disagreed with the humiliating suggestion made by the Lord Jesus. What John means is that you don't need me to baptize you with water, but I need you to baptize me with the Holy Spirit. John realized that Jesus had brought a new revelation, and his work should immediately take a back seat.
Brother John is really an example of our service. What is his role model? His example is: immediately make way for Christ. Brothers and sisters, no matter how great your achievements and contributions are in the Ministry of God, remember: stand in your own position, never take away the glory of God, and be ready to make way for Christ at any time.
