Which country does kiwifruit originate from?

Kiwi is an ancient plant. Miocene kiwifruit leaf fossils were found in Tiandong, Guangxi in 1979, 26-20 million years ago. Kiwi was described and recorded in various historical books in China more than 3000 years ago. China is the origin center of kiwifruit. Although different countries in the world have different names for kiwifruit, it is generally believed that kiwifruit was introduced directly or indirectly from Yichang, China. There are 63 kinds of kiwifruit in the world, 59 of which are native to China. China ranks first in the world in terms of species, quantity and total reserves. However, kiwifruit in China has been in the wild for a long time, and it was not until the 1950s that the relevant units began to conduct introduction and resource investigation to varying degrees. By the end of 1970s, China gradually began a large-scale resource investigation and individual plant selection. From the late 1970s to the early 1980s, gardens were built in various places, and kiwifruit was systematically studied and commercialized on a large scale.
