Two: Han, Wei and Jin Dynasties
Ban Gu, a historian of the Han Dynasty, wrote an article "Game of Purpose", distinguishing Go from gambling, and believed that Go has philosophical meaning: "Game" The chessboard must be square and upright, reflecting the principles of the earth; the Tao must be upright, reflecting the virtue of the gods; the chessboard has white and black, yin and yang; the parallel arrangement of the chessboard follows the astronomy..." In his writing, the square chessboard and the upright vertical and horizontal lines, The black and white Go pieces all hide deep philosophy. He not only corrected people's prejudices against Go, but also promoted the development of Go literature.
"Lan Ke" is about a woodcutter Wang Zhi who went into the mountains to collect firewood and met two immortals playing chess. He watched from the sidelines. After watching, he found that the ax handle was rotten. There is this stone carving on Lanke Mountain in Luoyang: I was born in the mountains and rivers of the south of the Yangtze River, and I heard that the royal family had Ke Mountain. Wang Zhi, a county man, went to cut wood and met the immortal Go in front of a stone cave. The game was not over yet, but he found a way out and climbed up... "Lan Ke" has become a nickname for Go since then.
