Why is the bronze statue of Confucius placed in the North Square of the National Museum?

On January 12, it was reported that: Yesterday, in order to promote and reflect the excellent traditional culture of China, a bronze statue of Confucius with a total height of 9.5 meters was completed in the North Square of the National Museum, adding a new cultural landmark to the Tiananmen area. .

The statue faces East Chang'an Street. The statue of Confucius has his hands clasped on his chest, looking into the distance, and a sword on the left side of his body. Wu Weishan, the author of the statue and director of the Institute of Fine Arts of the Chinese Academy of Arts, introduced that the statue started from the overall architectural environment and surrounding spatial environment of the North Gate Square of the National Museum, and used a simple and general approach to integrate the structure of the human body into the natural rock shape. Like a boulder, like a mountain, it is majestic and complements the solemn National Museum building, showing the long-lasting splendidness and uprightness of Chinese culture.

It is also understood that the renovation and expansion project of the National Museum of China, which lasted three and a half years and invested 2.5 billion yuan, has been fully completed and will be opened in March this year. As a major cultural construction project in my country during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the construction area of ??the expanded National Museum has increased from 65,000 square meters in the past to nearly 200,000 square meters. There are 49 exhibition halls of 800-2000 square meters, with a collection of more than 1.05 million pieces.
