Centipede, a commonly used animal name so far, first appeared in Guangya in the Northern Wei Dynasty, which pointed out: "_ The maggot of Wu Gong is also". Later, the glyph of "martial arts" was added to indicate that it belongs to insects. The origin of the name "Wu Gong" can be inferred from the record that "centipede was born in Wuchuan Valley and Jiangnan" in the famous doctor's memoir, because centipede was born in Wuchuan Valley. "Dawu" may be the abbreviation of big cities (today's Jiangsu) and Wu Jun. The word centipede first appeared in Shennong's herbal classics. According to China tradition, centipedes belong to the "five poisons" class of small animals.
