A gift to Zhang Jiuxu after getting drunk
Gao Shi
There are many acquaintances in the world, but this man is different.
Xinglai Shu is a saint, and his drunken words are especially brilliant.
White hair and old business, Qingyun is at present.
A bottle of wine by the bedside can help you fall asleep more often.
Gao Shi, Volume 1 "Ode to History" has been introduced. In the twenty-fourth year of Emperor Xuanzong's reign (736), the poet was drafted to Chang'an to take the academic examination but failed. The following year, he met celebrities such as Zhang Xu and Yan Zhenqing in Beijing, and "A Gift to Zhang Jiuxu after Drunk" was written at this time. Zhang Jiuxu, also known as Zhang Xu, named Bogao, ranked ninth, and was a native of Wuxian County (now Suzhou, Jiangsu Province). He once served as the governor of Zuo Led Prefecture, also known as Zhang Changshi. He was a famous calligrapher and was revered as the Saint of Cao.
The first couplet comments on the social trend of making friends. Start a sentence to criticize the bad dating habits in society. "Long acquaintance", Volume 10 of Shen Deqian's "Collection of Tang Poems" of the Qing Dynasty explains: "Second friendships are not close, but close friends are known as "long acquaintances"." The second sentence fully affirms Zhang Xu's attitude towards making friends. Volume 8 of "Combined Notes on Tang Poems" written by Yaoqu of the Qing Dynasty said: "These two sentences alone have revealed Zhang Xu's behavior and temperament."
The following six sentences describe Zhang Xu's behavior and temperament in detail. Three sentences describe Zhang Xu's calligraphy achievements. "New Book of Tang Dynasty: Literary Biography" says that "he is addicted to alcohol. Every time he gets drunk, he shouts and runs wildly. Then he starts writing, or wets the ink with his head while writing. When he wakes up, he thinks of himself as a god. He can't "Recovery". "Xinglai" shows that he wrote and wrote books out of curiosity, without any planning or utilitarian purpose. "The book is self-sacred" means that it naturally reaches the realm of transcendence and sanctification. This poem has two meanings: one is that although his calligraphy is a spontaneous work, it has also reached the realm of transcendence and sainthood. The second is that it is precisely because his calligraphy was done with spontaneity that he reached the realm of transcendence and sainthood. The four sentences describe Zhang Xu's crazy words after being drunk. Zhang Xu has a nickname called Zhang Dian. The word "Dian" reveals his personality characteristics, and the word "drunk" shows that he is in a crazy state. It is conditional and understandable, and the wording is very accurate.
The five sentences describe that he did not want to make progress and grew old in idleness. "New Book of Tang Dynasty: Biography of Literature and Art" said that "at the beginning, he served as a captain in Changshu. An old man submitted an ultimatum for judgment, and Su Xi came again. , Xu is angry and annoyed, blame him." This shows that he does not care about political performance and promotion, and is not very interested in tedious paperwork work. Six sentences say that he was appointed doctor of calligraphy by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty. According to Volume 21 of "Liu Dian of the Tang Dynasty", the doctor of calligraphy was located in the Imperial College, and his official rank was from the ninth rank to the next. Although the position is not high, it is an honor to have this position because Emperor Taizong and Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty paid special attention to calligraphy. Of course Zhang Xu himself wouldn't care about this.
The last couplet writes about Zhang Xu’s broad-minded life. There was a jug of wine on the bedside. He could drink it whenever he wanted and sleep when he was drunk, because he considered that life was too short to drink and fall asleep very often. "Modern" means to return it, and it still has some meaning.
Fortunately, this poem describes Zhang Xu's wild character. Gao Shi himself is a willful person with a very bumpy life, so he can have a deep understanding of Zhang Xu's character. Moreover, this poem was also written by the poet after he was drunk, which is similar to Zhang Xu's writing after being drunk, so it also seems hearty and hearty. The structure of this poem begins with two sentences, and six sentences directly describe Zhang Xu's behavior and temperament. The whole poem is not elaborate and is completed in one go, which is also amazing.
