What does gold mean in Taoism?

At the religious level, the physical form is represented by statues of gods, halls, and temples. Gold can represent people's respect for gods, admiration and worship.

In terms of purpose, Taoists practice Taoism and maintain health, treating gold, silver and jewelry as garbage, and treating all wealth as external things.

Taoism has the "Zangzangke", which is the ritual of filling the belly of a statue of a god. Generally, for the God of Wealth or other gods, various items are filled in the belly, such as cinnabar, cinnabar, twenty-four medicinal essences, etc. Realgar, incense ash, talismans, grains, five-color wool, almanac, needles, bronze mirrors, gold and silver ornaments, etc. Among them, gold and silver, ornaments are for wealth and prosperity. Generally, the decoration is completed the day before the consecration, or a few hours before the consecration. After consecration, the idol is worshiped with incense for a month. Then, formal worship can be performed.

Gold and silver represent wealth. It can be used as an offering to the deities after consecration. Other offerings include: tea, incense, wax, flowers, jewelry, clothes, fruits, etc.
