Recently, archaeologists of Nanping Jian 'ou Museum excavated a pre-Qin sacrificial cellar platform at the foot of Wugongling Mountain under the jurisdiction of Xiabao Village in Xiaoqiao Town, and unearthed a bronze dagger from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period.
Not long ago, Jian 'ou Museum received a report on the discovery of ancient cultural relics in Xiaoqiao Town. After being reported to the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau for approval, Zhang Jia, captain of Nanping Archaeological Team and associate researcher of Jian 'ou Museum, and archaeologists excavated the cellar platform. The pit platform is paved with vertical holes and pebbles, and a bronze dagger is placed in the hole. The cellar platform is small and exquisite, and it can be inferred that its age will not be later than the Warring States period, which is rare for archaeological discoveries in our province.
Unearthed bronze swords are "inclined and wide, long and narrow, thick and hoop", with a complete shape and typical features of wuyue daggers in the late Spring and Autumn Period. During the Warring States Period, after Chu killed no borders, some members of the Yue royal family settled in Fujian. It is inferred that the bronze dagger unearthed in Xiaoqiao Wugongling is probably a weapon used by the Yue people.
This archaeological discovery adds a bronze weapon to the collection of bronze ritual vessels, bronze musical instruments and bronze wine vessels in Jian 'ou Museum, which enriches and improves the collection quality and cultural status of the museum, and also provides important physical materials for studying the history of Yue weapons in the Spring and Autumn Period.
