Regulations on the protection and management of geological relics
Tenth geological relics protection area declaration and approval:
The establishment of national geological relics protection zones shall be applied by the administrative department of geology and mineral resources of the State Council or the people's governments of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government where geological relics are located. After being reviewed by the National Nature Reserve Review Committee, the competent administrative department of environmental protection of the State Council shall review and sign opinions, and report them to the State Council for approval and promulgation.
The national geological relics protection zones listed in the World Natural Heritage List shall be declared by the administrative department of Geology and Mineral Resources of the State Council to the relevant administrative department of the State Council.
The establishment of provincial geological relics protection zones shall be applied by the local (city), county (city) people's government or the administrative department of geology and mineral resources at the same level, reviewed by the provincial nature reserve review committee, reviewed and signed by the administrative department of environmental protection of the people's governments of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, and reported to the people's governments of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government for approval and promulgation.
The establishment of county-level geological relics protection zones shall be applied by the administrative department of geology and mineral resources of the people's government at the county level where the geological relics are located, reviewed by the review committee of county-level nature reserves, reviewed and signed by the administrative department of environmental protection of the county (city) people's government, and submitted to the county (city) people's government for approval and promulgation.
The establishment of geological relics geological protection zones across two or more administrative regions shall be submitted by the people's governments of the relevant administrative regions or the administrative departments of geology and mineral resources at the same level after consultation, and shall be examined and approved in accordance with the procedures specified in the preceding three paragraphs.
Article 11 Division of protection degree:
The geological relics in the protected areas can be protected at the first, second and third levels respectively.
First-class protection: the geological relics that are extremely rare at home and abroad and have important scientific value are subject to first-class protection, and they are not allowed to enter without approval. With the approval of the administrative department of geology and mineral resources of the people's government that has established the geological relics protection zone at the corresponding level, it may organize visits, scientific research or international exchanges.
Second-level protection: Second-level protection is implemented for geological relics with important scientific value in a large range. With the approval of the administrative department of geology and mineral resources of the people's government that established the geological relics protection zone at the corresponding level, scientific research, teaching, academic exchanges and appropriate tourism activities can be organized.
Three-level protection: Three-level protection is implemented for geological relics with certain value. With the approval of the administrative department of geology and mineral resources of the people's government that has established the geological relics protection zone at the corresponding level, tourism activities can be organized.
