One of the pain and relief of life: the cause of life pain? trouble

Transferred from master Ji qun

Third, worry

If ignorance and persistence are the root of pain in life, it is because they can lead to trouble. And worry is not only the perpetrator of pain, but also the pain itself. Once we are infected with the virus of worry, our inner peace will be completely destroyed. Trouble lurks in our lives and occupies our hearts. Wherever we go, we will take it with us. If you use one word to describe it, it is-always with you.

So, what are the troubles of all beings? According to Buddhist scriptures, there are 84,000 kinds of troubles, including lust, lust and colorless troubles. Within the three realms, different life levels have different troubles. Among them, there are six fundamental troubles, which are the soil for all troubles; There are twenty kinds of troubles, all of which are produced with the action of fundamental troubles. Let's first understand a few fundamental problems.

The first fundamental trouble is greed. Greed is one of the most common psychological activities of human beings, which is to influence and occupy your favorite field.

When our hearts are occupied by burning greed, we will lose the restraint of behavior and do whatever it takes to satisfy greed. By hook or by crook because of greed for property; Kidnapped because of greed for women; Joining the party for personal gain because of coveting status; Because he is greedy for a false name, praise him and destroy him; Or because they covet other people's property, trample on their own personality, and use flattery to achieve ulterior motives.

The scope of greed is wider. "Cheng Weizhi" said: "Greed is insatiable, gains, and is dyed as human nature." You are three things, namely, the world of desire, the world of color and the world of non-color; Possession is the cause of three things. The reason of the three realms phenomenon and the three realms phenomenon is the place where all beings are greedy. We are greedy for health, wealth, career, status and reputation; We are eager for delicious food, pleasant colors, pleasant voices, pleasant compliments, comfortable houses and pleasant environment ... in short, we are greedy for everything.

Greed makes our hearts involuntarily drawn by it, causing all kinds of obstacles. When greed is not satisfied, our hearts are occupied and tortured by strong desires, and even lead to morbid desires, which make us ignore moral norms, ignore legal constraints, and act recklessly driven by greed. Even after the greed is temporarily satisfied, our hearts are still restless, and we will fall into the fear of being swayed by considerations of gain and loss for fear of losing all this. And those desires that are fully aroused will continue to destroy our reason like demons and let us sink deeper and deeper into the trap of greed.

From the perspective of individual life, greed is the root of trouble, and from the perspective of the whole human society, greed is the basis of all man-made disasters. What kind of influence will greed bring to the world?

With the escalation of desire, mankind is devouring the limited resources of the earth at an unprecedented speed: forests are over-cut, mineral deposits are blindly exploited, air is polluted, water sources are deteriorating ... The vicious circle formed by rapid consumption of resources and growing greed is spreading around the world. In just a few generations, we have destroyed nature more than the sum of the past thousands of years. Today, we have almost caught the bottleneck of nature's failure. If we can't effectively overcome our greed and control our possessiveness within a reasonable range, but continue to develop it and indulge it, it won't be long before we leave a devastated land for future generations, a home that is no longer suitable for human habitation.

Contrary to the acquisitiveness shown by greed, anger is the rejection and resentment of what you don't like.

Anger takes many forms. In life, we can find insults and fights caused by hatred everywhere. Or angry with each other because of disagreement, or angry with each other because of conflicts of interest ... When others influence and hurt us, they will cause our hatred, and what's more, they will vent their mistakes on others.

Hatred makes us lose our inner peace, but when we analyze it, we will find that hatred is really a manifestation of ignorance. When we are angry, it is tantamount to "punishing ourselves with other people's faults" and making ourselves the first victim. Hatred can escalate skirmishes. When hatred is put into action, reason, morality and even law disappear. As the Buddhist scripture says, "In a rage, it is beyond redemption."

Jealousy also comes from our hatred. Although the human mind can be broader than the sky, it may also be too narrow to accommodate anyone but itself. When jealousy covers our hearts, we can't tolerate the glory, success and happiness of others. Jealousy is a terrible psychology. We will vilify others out of jealousy, interfere with others, and set obstacles for others everywhere. We may even be instigated by extreme jealousy to kill others and then do it quickly, so we embark on the road of crime.

In order to cure jealousy, Buddhist scriptures especially advocate the merit of happiness. When others do charity, when others practice hard, when others make progress, as long as we sincerely rejoice and admire, we can get the same merits as him. Therefore, following happiness is a very convenient way to win. It can not only help us overcome jealousy effectively, but also be a shortcut to our success in the world.

Slowness is what we usually call pride, and it is also an important part of fundamental problems. Being slow-witted makes us conceited, so we despise others and refuse to be modest to talented and virtuous people. Slow heart will also make us go our own way and create all kinds of bad karma. Bradycardia has the following different manifestations:

Slow: When others are really inferior to themselves in ability and knowledge, or equal to themselves, people with slow thinking will become arrogant and look down on others.

Too slow: when others are equal to themselves in all aspects, or really surpass themselves, too slow makes us stand still and fail to see the strengths of others.

Slow is too slow: when others are far better than ourselves in all aspects, slow conceit makes us distort the facts and still think that we are better than others, so we can't tolerate the honor and admiration that others deserve.

I am slow: I am not the living body of Wuyun, but we always think there is "I" in it because of illusion. I further exaggerate myself, raise myself, and take myself as the center everywhere. I feel that everyone should respect me, listen to my command and dispatch, take my will as the transfer, and even hope that the whole world will revolve around me and my needs.

Slow growth: Some people who study Buddhism, in the process of practicing Buddhism, feel and benefit a little, and mistakenly think that they have achieved something, so they are complacent. This is basically the case for many people who are possessed by blind practice.

Humble: Some people are born with inferiority and are willing to sink, but they don't agree with others' strengths. No matter what others have to learn from us, in order to avoid exposing our ignorance, we don't know how to be modest, respect the advantages of others and make people progress.

What goes around comes around: Many people don't have any real knowledge and virtue, but in order to gain fame and fortune in the world and achieve ulterior motives, they publicize themselves through various false means.

As the saying goes, "modesty is full of benefits", it is difficult for a slow person to make progress in both knowledge and moral cultivation. Because I can't see my own shortcomings and the advantages of others, I am arrogant. We will not listen to others' opinions seriously and learn others' knowledge with an open mind, which will undoubtedly hinder our progress.

We often say that "scholars despise each other" is also caused by slow heart. Generally speaking, I am always slow to people with special skills. On the one hand, I feel that I have slow capital. On the other hand, I am constantly nourished by the respect and admiration of others all day, so that I have the illusion that I am really so great and so superior.

Being slow-witted also makes it difficult to live in harmony. Generally speaking, I am a slow-witted person with strong self-esteem. I always hope others will respect me and will not tolerate others' contempt for me. At the same time, because they attach too much importance to themselves, they often can't treat others equally, don't know how to show due respect to others, and even hurt others at will. However, the relationship between people is mutual. If you want to be respected by others, you must first respect others and treat them with a friendly attitude. If we can't do this, we always show contempt for others intentionally or unintentionally, and others will naturally give you feedback in the same way. At the same time, people with excessive self-esteem are often emotionally fragile. In his eyes, he has supreme status, so he can only adapt to the obedience and compliment of others. Once hit, his spirit easily collapses. (To be continued)
