It is a book of great value in studying the history of dictionary development in my country

The whole book is divided into Shou, Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, Haihe There are 14 volumes at the end, each volume has different page numbers. "His name is Guanxi Zi Xing", and the remaining episodes are only engraved with "Yicheng Mei Yingzuo's birth pronunciation".
In the five blank spaces after the table of contents of the first volume of the book, the original collector wrote in ink: "Bought at Huguo Temple on the 7th day of the last lunar month of the 40th year of Qianlong's reign. On the Avenue of Destiny, all things were unified, and everything was unified. Cultivation of the heart, nourishing the heart, Yuan Ming, Tai Su Tai Chi, ancient and modern..." It can be seen from this that this book was collected in Huguo Temple more than 160 years after it was published.
The famous linguist Mr. Wang Li once wrote in his book: "The most influential calligraphy book in modern China is the Kangxi Dictionary in the early Qing Dynasty, and the predecessor of the Kangxi Dictionary is the Chinese Dictionary ” and “Zhengzi Tong” ”
It shows that “Zihui” had a significant influence on the compilation of “Kangxi Dictionary”.
The biggest improvement in the calligraphy of "Cihui" is the reform of radicals. Mei Yingzuo believed that the stroke arrangement method was more convenient than the phonetic arrangement method, so he merged the 540 volumes of Shuowen and the 444 volumes of Pian Lun into 214 volumes. Arrange the radicals in sequence according to the number of calligraphy and painting. The "Cihui" is divided into twelve volumes according to the earthly branches, and each volume is arranged according to the number of strokes. Later, this method was also adopted when compiling the "Kangxi Dictionary". In addition, "Vocabulary" also provides a lot of practical knowledge. For example, teaching people the stroke order of writing and identifying characters with similar shapes is very beneficial to popularize knowledge. "Cihui" is followed by "Rhyme Straight Pictures" and "Rhyme Horizontal Pictures". According to Mei Yingzuo, this was written by Li Shize of the Shangyuan Dynasty and published in the Jiayin year (1614). Although these innovations in rhyme are not yet complete, and it was not until the "Zitianqie Rhyme Essentials" contained in the "Kangxi Dictionary" that real breakthroughs were made in rhyme, this set of "Cihui" reference books is a great contribution to the history of modern phonetics. Research is still very valuable. After 390 years of baptism, this set of "Vocabulary" is still well preserved and is a rare treasure.
