Anecdotes of Ancient and Modern Times, compiled by Yanwu in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. Yanwu is from Xin 'an. Qin Long is a scholar, so he can edit and carve ancient books. According to Yanwu's "self-narrative" theory in Ancient and Modern Tales and its compiling reasons:
History is lost and wild. This is not good! So the fool stopped smoking himself, drew the curtains in his spare time and picked up the book next to him. Each volume is named ancient and modern anecdotes.
Although this book is called "Yi Shi", besides the History Department, it also includes the primary schools in the Classic Department (such as dialects, famous explanations, supplements to the Nine Classics, and elegance) and the miscellaneous studies in the Second Department (such as ancient and modern notes and Li Fu's mistakes).
This book falls into two categories: Zhiyi and Historical Records. Each category is divided into subcategories:
"Zhi Yi" can be divided into two categories, namely "combined record" and "entry". The main contents of the collected books are about language, writing, geography, palace, canon, customs, rumors and so on.
Historical Records can be divided into three categories: records and biographies, mainly including history, characters, miscellaneous notes and strange novels. "Ji" includes 12 kinds such as "Three Graves" and "Mu Biography". "Shijia" has collected five books, including Jin History and Chu History. Biographies include eleven biographies of Gao Shi.
