History of Shaanxi Library
Shanxi Library was founded in 1909 (the first year of Qing Dynasty), and it was born at the same time as the predecessor of the National Library-Shi Jing Library, with a history of one hundred years. It is one of the earliest public libraries in China. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, under the impetus of the Reform Movement, many people advocated taking western countries as an example to set up public libraries in order to enlighten people's wisdom, inherit tradition and develop industry.
Shanxi Library is also one of the collectors of UNESCO publications and American higher education materials in China, and has established international book exchange relations with the Library of Congress, Nara County Library and the Library of Sinology Institute of Leiden University in the Netherlands. After decades of book accumulation, Shaanxi local literature, basic science and applied technology, and emerging disciplines have been formed as the main body.
