Qianlong ordered the author to write Pingfeng Zangli
The highest-ranking officials among the descendants of the Wei family were a doctor and a censor. In the middle hall of Wei's ancestral hall, there is a couplet like this: The brilliant light of the candle shadow shines on the sword and shoes of the doctor, and the misty smoke of the furnace smokes the imperial official's clothes. This is a testament to the Wei family's prominence in the history.
On the left side of the "Qingyuan Hall" in the middle hall of the Wei Ancestral Hall, a large screen 7.2 meters long and 4 meters wide was erected. This 12-leaf large screen is made of red sandalwood. It was written by Zhang Tingyu, the famous historical prime minister who was ordered by Qianlong in the Dingmao year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (i.e. 1747 AD) and served as prime minister in Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong dynasties. Doctor Guanglu, Wang Youdun, the Minister of the Ministry of Justice, the Censor of Zuodu of the Imperial Procuratorate, and Wang Youdun, a great calligrapher in ancient China, wrote to congratulate more than 100 elderly people over 65 years old in the Wei family in Lijiao Village on their birthdays.
It is reported that a large screen of this size and shape, written by a great calligrapher and given to ordinary people by the emperor's important ministers, is unique in the history of Yangcheng and can be called the best in Guangdong.
The tall ancient wall on the left side of the front hall of the Wei Clan Ancestral Hall is covered in smoke and fire and is covered with tragic marks, which is very dazzling. According to local records, during the Opium War, the area outside Lijiao Village was still the sea, and the Wei Ancestral Hall was less than 100 meters away from the Lijiao River. The British invaders' warships sailed to the other side of the sea and were frightened by the size of the Wei Ancestral Hall. The British mistakenly thought that the Yamen of the capital of Guangzhou carried out a fierce bombardment. A large hole was blasted in front of the gate of the Wei Ancestral Hall, which was later repaired.
