What does bold type mean?
It's decorative font, not calligraphy. Bold characters absorb the advantages of strict structure of Song Dynasty in font frame. In the stroke shape, the horizontal painting is bold, and the Song shrug angle is flattened into an isoline shape, so that the horizontal and vertical strokes are uniform in thickness, and the strokes with different tips and tails in Song style are changed into square strokes, which is unique and gives people a rough, rigid, serious, solemn and simple feeling. It imitates Latin handwriting that appeared after 12 century. The characteristics of bold characters are: the main strokes are thick, the strokes are slender, and the glyphs are close together without arcs. This font was used in Germany and Austria until after World War II. One of the fonts often used in bold printing is generally used in more formal occasions such as printing and written reports, and is mostly used for titles or marking key points.
