Huai Su's Autobiographical Notes of Tang Dynasty is a cursive script written by Huai Su for his own account and the scholar-officials' evaluation of his calligraphy at that time. Written in the 12th year of the Tang Dynasty (AD 777), Autobiographical Notes is the longest work handed down by Huai Su, and it is also the representative work of his cursive script in his later years.
Historical twists and turns
The self-narrative posts were collected by Neifu in Southern Tang Dynasty, Su Shunqin in Song Dynasty, Shao Ye, Lu Bian, Xu Ganzhai in Ming Dynasty, Xiang, Yu Feng, An Qi and Neifu in Qing Dynasty. The original is now in the Palace Museum in Taiwan. According to Zeng Xingguo's topic, the old masters Mi Yuanzhang, Xue Daozu and Liu Juji wrote the topic, which has now been lost. In the Song Dynasty, Mi Fei recorded for interview, while Huang recorded the rest of the East view, while Qing recorded Mo view. Brief introduction of the author
Huai Su (737~799) was born in Lingling, Yongzhou (now Lingling, Hunan). He became a monk since childhood and engaged in art and literature after Zen, especially in cursive script. People like to drink, so they are called "drunken monks". The wine is flourishing, the temple walls are covered with screens and clothes, and they are at a loss. Because the cursive script is samadhi, it is called "crazy monk". Huai Su began to learn calligraphy from Ou Yangxun, and later learned cursive script from Wu Tong (Huai Su's cousin). Wu Tong, a student in Zhang Xu, wrote in calligraphy. In 762 (the early year of Baoying), he set out from Lingling, passed through Hengyang, arrived in Guangzhou, stayed in Tanzhou, then passed through Yuezhou and entered Chang 'an. In 772, Huai Su returned to his hometown, passing through Luoyang, which happened to be in Yan Zhenqing. He visited the house and discussed books with monks and Confucian scholars, which became a great event in the book world. Celebrities in the Tang Dynasty, such as Li Bai, Lv Xiang, Dai Shulun, Qian Qi and others, all sang their praises. Huai Su is famous for its weeds, and like Zhang Xu, it is called "crazy vegetarian".
