The former residence of Du Fu, the famous poet of the Tang Dynasty, when he lived in Chengdu. Du Fu lived here for nearly four years and wrote hundreds of poems. Therefore, this place is regarded as a "holy place" in the history of Chinese literature. The current Du Fu Thatched Cottage was restored many times during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
The Thatched Cottage is located on the bank of Huanhua Creek outside the west gate of Chengdu. The garden is lined with pavilions and towering ancient trees. After entering from the main entrance, the three main buildings, namely the Grand Hall, the Hall of Poetry and History, and the Gongbu Temple, are arranged on the central axis from south to north. To the northeast of the Gongbu Temple is the Shaoling Stele Pavilion and the former residence of the great poet thatched cottage. To the east of the thatched cottage is the bonsai garden, and to the south are the Huanhua Temple, Huajing, Daya Hall and the Thatched Cottage Showroom near the south gate.
The former residence of thatched cottage was rebuilt based on the characteristics of folk houses in western Sichuan and has become the iconic landscape of Du Fu's Thatched Cottage. In the bonsai garden on the east side of the hut, there is the "Du Shi Calligraphy and Woodcut Gallery" built in 1999, which displays more than a hundred pieces of Du Shi's calligraphy and woodcut works, including "Du Shi's best poems, exquisite calligraphy, exquisite nanmu wood, and unique carving skills" Wait for the four musts.
The thatched cottage has three gates, the main gate and the south gate are located in the south of the thatched cottage, and the north gate is located in the northwest.
