The founder of Taekwondo is Cui Hongxi. It was through his unremitting efforts that Taekwondo was promoted and made outstanding contributions to the popularization and development of Taekwondo. Choi Hong Hee was born on November 9, 1918 in North Hamgyong Province, North Korea. When Cui Hongxi was young, he studied calligraphy with a famous Korean calligrapher and also mastered the classical martial arts of Korea. When he was young, he studied in Japan. Not only did he complete his studies, he also learned karate (Tang Hand) and obtained the second degree. With the liberation of North Korea on August 15, 1945, Choi Hong-hee and others organized and founded the South Korean army in Seoul. At the same time, he started a new martial arts study, which is today's Taekwondo. After his painstaking research and continuous practice, especially the teaching and popularization in the Korean army, he had the opportunity to practice and improve repeatedly. Before Taekwondo was named, today's Taekwondo was basically completed. In 1954, Cui Hongxi founded the Wu Dokan to teach Taekwondo. In the same year, he was elected as the honorary director of Cheongdo Hall, the largest and most traditional Cheongdo Hall in Korea at the time. On April 11, 1955, the name setting committee composed of famous people from all walks of life unanimously approved the name proposed by Choi Hongxi among the names proposed anonymously by each person. The word "Taekwon". From this, Taekwondo was born. The Korean Taekwondo Association was established on September 3, 1959, and Choi Hong-hee became the president. The International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) was established in 1966, with Cui Hongxi serving as the first chairman of the alliance. In May 1973, the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) was established in Seoul, South Korea, and Kim Yun-ryong was elected as chairman. As of 1998, the World Taekwondo Federation has 144 member countries. In 1975, the World Taekwondo Federation was officially admitted as a member of the International Sports Federation. In 1980, the International Olympic Committee officially recognized the World Taekwondo Federation.
