There are two main sources of the surname Ji. One is from the surname. Sun Bo, a descendant of the Yellow Emperor, was given a surname, and was sealed in Southern Yan (now Yanjin, Henan Province). His descendants removed the female character and were named Ji. The second is from the surname Ji. Yin Jifu, a distinguished scholar in Zhou Xuanwang, was an all-rounder in civil and military affairs. His grandson took the word "Ji" as his surname and called it Ji.
