Yu Zhongying's calligraphy is a disciple of Zhao Xi. After he became the mayor of Chengdu, many local businessmen wrote for him. After liberation, he was elected as the vice chairman of Sichuan Calligraphy Association. No matter whether he is busy in cold or hot weather, he must read posts and practice calligraphy every day. In his later years, he especially loved Zhangcao, and every time he copied it with waste newspapers, he took pleasure in it. He usually practices writing, and also neatly binds it, striving for treasures for acquaintances. Dozens of people have learned books from him, all of whom have been carefully taught by him and served as model books. Others grasp the wrist to teach and work tirelessly. China Dictionary of Calligraphy Appreciation and celebrity calligraphy in the Republic of China published by Sichuan Fine Arts Publishing House in 1989 all included his works and gave high evaluation. After his death, the Provincial Museum of Literature and History and the Pixian Cultural Center successively exhibited his posthumous works, and the Pixian Cultural Center also published his Mo Bao handed down from generation to generation. In addition, he is also good at painting. In his early years, he visited the old man Qi Baishi in Peiping to learn painting. The ink bamboo, plum blossom and bug he painted can all be called top grade. His artistic achievements in painting and calligraphy have far surpassed his reputation as a military and political official.
