Children who don't like writing.

Liao Shengguang, Technical Director of Dengnan Children's Center

As long as children want to write, they become procrastinating, especially in sentence making, composition and application problems. You ask him clearly and answer, but even if you don't cooperate, a simple homework can drag on for more than an hour. Why on earth do children dislike writing so much? Are you lazy? What's the problem?

Children who resist writing in clinic are usually not children with poor finger dexterity, but the gap between "cognition" and "operation" is too big. These children are too demanding of themselves, but their written test scores are lower than expected. They feel that they can never do it well, which leads to emotional resistance and eventually leads to unwilling behavior. At this point, the more adults blame, it will often make the situation worse and make children more resistant to writing.

In view of these children, we must find out the problems from four angles: writing, literacy, reading and memory, in order to guide and help change smoothly!

1. Wrong pen-holding habit:

Because of the incorrect pen-holding posture, children's writing efficiency is not good, especially the poor thumb strength, which leads to fatigue and inability to write continuously. At this time, letting children write a lot often only makes children use the wrong method, leading to a vicious circle. At this time, the best way is to prepare scissors, let children practice cutting thick cardboard and train thumb muscle strength. When the muscle strength of the thumb is enough, you can change to a proper pen-holding posture, and writing will not be a difficult thing. However, the adjustment of pen holding posture must be before level 4, which will have obvious effects!

2. Accuracy of literacy:

Because of the poor accuracy of literacy, children can read, but they can't write correctly, which leads to too much time when writing, thus slowing down the speed and willingness to write. Judging from the literacy performance, there is no difference between writing well and scribbling. The most important thing is the correctness of the writing order. When helping children, if they are already struggling to hold pens, please let them practice writing "cursive characters" on the blackboard with their fingers, and emphasize the importance of stroke order. The sooner you write, the better. It doesn't matter even if you scribble, but it can increase your child's memory of fonts.

3. Sentence reading ability:

Because it is difficult to break sentences and paragraphs when reading, the meaning of the topic is often misunderstood, which leads to the lack of interest and motivation when there are too many words in the topic. This is the most easily misunderstood by adults, because they know every word clearly, but why they just drag their feet, but they can write it immediately by helping him read the topic once, so they often make their parents angry. In fact, it's not that children are lazy or not serious, but that their discrimination in phonology is poor, which leads to the reading strategy based on "characters", so they don't understand it either. When helping these children, it is not very helpful to give them a lot of practice. On the contrary, it is necessary for children to practice reading questions more, and read each question at least three times before answering, which can increase learning efficiency.

4. Memory flexibility:

What we are talking about here is not "memory", but our ability to repeat a sentence after finishing it. Many children often encounter this problem when they first learn to make sentences and write compositions, that is, they have said it clearly, but when they want to write words on paper, they forget what they just said, and the result is to hit a wall repeatedly. Please don't rush your child at this time. Nervousness will only make children behave worse. On the contrary, it is more efficient to encourage children to read aloud three or five times before writing.

Please use the wisdom of adults to help children solve problems instead of creating more problems. When these problems are solved one by one, homework is no longer a painful thing, and children can enjoy learning happily.
