Ni Kuan, on the other hand, spends all his time reading. In the face of others' ridicule and sarcasm, Ni Kuan is just and awe-inspiring: "A gentleman takes the world as his own responsibility, and a true hero wants peace for the world!" No matter how others persuade and pull, Ni Kuan just won't mix with them.
So a few years later, on one occasion, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was very dissatisfied with one of Zhang Tang's memorials, which made Zhang Tang feel scared and frightened. Scold the file when you come back. Documents when you are sad, one side of Ni Kuan took the throne a look, didn't add some words, and changed for a while. As a result, the throne made Emperor Wu shine at the moment, and when he learned that it was written by Ni Kuan, he personally summoned him, first appointed him as Zuo Nei Shi, and then promoted him as an ancient scholar. While others are drinking and having fun, Ni Kuan studies behind closed doors, because his ambition is not to find a job, but to learn from the world. From the beginning, there was a big pattern in his heart, which also doomed his life height.
Starting small is a life attitude, which can be seen from trivial things in life, so we can often understand a person's inner spirit. Watch your words and deeds. Laozi said: "Great things in the world must be done in detail, and difficult things in the world must be done in an easy way." Ability, moral cultivation and life wisdom are all accumulated bit by bit.
Starting small is also a way to look at people. According to Yuquanzi, when Lv Yuan was appointed as the capital of Du Dong, a Chu Shi often played chess with him. Once, two people were fighting, and suddenly the official document came. Lv Yuanying had to leave the chessboard and go to the case-solving to read the official documents. The chess player took the opportunity to secretly move a chess piece and finally defeated Lu Yuanying. In fact, Lu Yuanying has seen that he moved the chess pieces, but it is of little significance.
The next day, Lu Yuanying dismissed the chess player. When he left, Lu Yuanying also presented money and things. Lv Yuanying wanted to dismiss this chess player because he found the quality of lying from the way a chess player moves and a deceptive trick. In the eyes of ordinary people, moving a chess piece seems to be a trivial matter, and it seems unworthy of being serious. But small things are not small, and small things can see big things. Therefore, when Liu Bei died, he warned his son, "Don't do it because of goodness, don't do it because of evil." It is the subtle behavior that determines the cultivation of moral character.
Keep your mouth shut in the group and be alone in your heart.
Living in groups and keeping your mouth shut is a kind of wisdom. Some people seem to be eloquent and boastful, but in fact they feel frivolous, superficial and arrogant. Such a person, no matter how you say it, is just nonsense. There are even some people who speak recklessly and don't understand other people's feelings, and often hurt others unintentionally. I'm afraid the value of such people's words is worse than nonsense.
True wisdom is to know how to be a late bloomer and sing loudly; If you don't sing, you will. It's a blockbuster. Silence is a kind of quality, a kind of accomplishment, it is important to resist the vanity and glitz of the outside world, and we need to impose harsh constraints on ourselves. Confucianism pays attention to "keeping your word and doing what you do", which is to warn people that it is always more important to do things in a down-to-earth manner than to talk about nothingness. The Analects of Confucius describes such a dialogue: Zi Gong asked the teacher how Confucius could become a gentleman, and Confucius told him, "Speak first, then follow." Do what you want to say first, and then say it. This is much better than empty words and broken promises!
Being alone and guarding your heart is a kind of cultivation. In other words, the words "cautious independence" and "cautious independence" mentioned by the ancients in China came from the Confucian book The Doctrine of the Mean in Qin and Han Dynasties: "Don't be obscure, don't be obscure, so a gentleman is cautious about independence." The so-called cautious independence means being cautious when others can't see it; Stay awake when others can't hear you.

Ouyang Xiu has a couplet, "I haven't read a book, so I can't say anything to anyone". What he wants is this kind of generosity and peace of mind that "nothing can be said to people".
