Character introduction:

Lu (1909— 1993), formerly known as Gangzu, was born in nanxiang town, Jiading County. 1926 was admitted to Wuxi College. 1927, he became a teacher with Feng Chaoran and got to know Wu Hufan. In the two gentlemen's offices, he saw many original works by famous artists of past dynasties. Living in the mainland during the Anti-Japanese War, 1946 returned to his hometown. Before that, most of Mr. Wang's works were digestion and absorption of ancient traditions. The experience of returning home through the Three Gorges triggered Mr. Wang's innovative consciousness, and he began to transform the previous tradition of local transformation into consciously establishing his own style, but he was still exploring it 10 years ago. From 65438 to 0956, Mr. Wang worked as a painter in Shanghai Aihua Painting Academy. 196 1 to 1966, went to Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts to teach landscape painting part-time. During this period, Mr. Wang's personal style developed and finally formed his own unique style in his later years.

Mr. Lu created two new techniques in landscape painting, one is "blank space" and the other is "ink block". The so-called "blank space" is to leave white marks with ink and wash, which are mostly used to express clouds in Mr. Lu's works, and can also be regarded as springs, mountain paths and waves. Blank space should be compared with ink color, so Mr. Lu created the "ink block" method, which piled up dots into blocks with thick ink. Mr. Lu is also good at drawing water and clouds with long lines, and his waterline describes various situations. His hook cloud is to draw the front of the cloud with a thinner drag pen center and hook the back of the cloud with a lighter loop curve. In addition, when drawing a stone, Mr. Wang only uses undulating lines to express the structure of the stone, and the ink is often very thick until the ink is dry and white, and then dip it for the second time.

Mr. Lu's profound academic accomplishment in poetry, calligraphy, painting theory, etc. is inseparable from his expertise in plum blossom and bamboo stones and different styles of landscape paintings such as Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi and Li Keran. He has published many monographs and papers on China's landscape paintings, such as Lu Ziwei, Landscape Painting Debate, and Lu Hua Ji, and is known as "an outstanding literati painter in contemporary China painting".
