Liu Gongquan, a Jing native, was an official, calligrapher and poet in the middle Tang Dynasty. He was the younger brother of Liu Gongchuo, the minister of war. His calligraphy is famous for regular script, and he is a beginner of Wang Xizhi. Later, he visited famous calligraphers in the Tang Dynasty, absorbed the characteristics of Yan Zhenqing and Ou Yangxun's calligraphy, integrated their strengths, and created a unique "six-body". His personality is strong and powerful, which makes later generations have the reputation of "Yan Gu". He is as famous as Yan Zhenqing, known as "Yan Liu", and also known as "four masters of regular script" with Ou Yangxun, Yan Zhenqing and Zhao Mengfu.
